Has there ever been a more anticipated downloadable content piece than Home? It seems as though everyone and their mother is waiting for Home to finally be released to the general public. At least the wait is appearing to be for good reasons as Home has undergone several changes since its first announcement. As the Beta users continue to find issues and room for improvement, their suggestions did not fall on deaf ears as Sony has made some clear enhancements and improvements to Home.
Entrance points to such areas as the Bowling Alley or Theatre have been completely revamped in order to make them more recognizable to users. The Theatre itself has also been dropped down to the ground level as Beta users complained that the 12 second walk felt to initially get to the Theatre was far too long.
There will also apparently be eight to nine different apartments available to you at launch however premium apartment pricing has yet to be released. You’ll also be able to bring your virtual self onto a balcony in order to enjoy the scenery outside of your bachelor pad.
One of the premium rooms that will be made available is the Norwegian Lodge. This is a large wooden cabin that is much bigger than your standard apartment. It was mentioned that all of the current apartments are based in a realistic geographical location, however, apartments such as in the clouds and the like are potentially a possibility depending on user demand.
There have been no signs of a delay for Home and it is still on track for its Spring 2008 release. So we only have a little bit more time to wait.

Sounds good. HOME should be very fun.
this is good news, home it goin to be great
Home just sems really useless to me. Why would I want a virtual life with things I can already do in a menu? Sony should be spending their time on making the PSN as good as XBL. Hurry up and make In-Game XMB for a start.
sounds interesting. HOME looks alot like the game "second life" for pc but it will probably be much better.
@ TwiSta home is not for everyone you might not like it i personally think it is sweet and looks like a fun way to hang around with my friends and look at games vids or play pool
Man! I can't wait for home! This is going to be AWSOME!!! Revalutionary even! ( Ya I know the spelling is off) Microsoft will not be able to top this one off!
yay, im norwegian!
still on track for a spring release, thats all I needed to hear...
damm cant wait for this, spring 2008 means we will have it by the end of may right?
@twista..... y dont you go bac to those xbox fanboy sites this site strictly for the playstation fanboy. In my opinion psn is better than XBL and I think many of us will agree. sure u guys have the in-game xmb but we are getting that and much more, this is only ps3's 2nd year 360 came out a year before cuase microsoft was to afraid to release it around ps3 time. you you guys had a lot of time to get prepared for the ps3 launch
Cant wait to go Home, this is why i love Sony always finding new ways to innovative in the gaming industry, something microsoft and nintendo always fail to deliver.
Let's hope it actually does come out in Spring this time. Maybe a release announced at GDC? That would be good. One year after it's first announcement aswell.
Home is sounding Tasty. Couple its imminent release with the XMB, the games in 08/09 and the recent shipping figures, and sony have done really well. Ace.
WOW can you guys not read it clearly states the PREMIUM things you will have to pay for and even then the PSN cards should be out soon enough and just pay with then cards unbelieveable people these days
Why are you so worried about pricing issues without a credit card? Can't you buy PSN cards now? And if you can't, they will be in North America by the time Home comes out, so NO WORRIES!
And for those people who are complaining about this "game" even though its a network of some sort. Stop complaining you are not paying for it it will be like it magicly appeared once it releases if u dont like it go play some 360 pay for everything u do and il continue to play my cod4 for free and games that surpass xbox's minumum players online
can't wait for home its ganna be so tight yo...i wanna bowl..when home comes out high veliocity bowling on the psn would be kinda useless ya know?
PSN ID: Cory9807
psn id: gingo.... cant wait for this to finally come out but i hope we are all not disappointed with Home becasue we are expecting too much from it
Can't wait to try it out...
Not really sure what to think of it at the moment. And I laugh at everyone crying for ingame XMB. I'm sure you'll rarely use it.
@ DARKBLADE1
lol what? I'm not an xbox fanboy. Infact I prefer the PS3 but the fact is that XBL is better right now. The ONLY thing better about PSN is that it's free and why has it taken Sony so long to improve it by adding In-Game XMB etc? The 360 had all these features when it came out. God I hate fanboys like you.
greate, sound good. now bring on home to my home :)
@Twista
No, the Xbox 360 didnt have the in game XMB when it first came out. Need to do some more checking.
ohh jea cant wait to have a home on my ps3!forget renting, gotta have ya own crib ya no?lol
why are people bashing on Twista? all he was doing was expressing his opinion in stating that Sony should put more foucus on PSN, persoanlly I agree. and as some one said, Home isnt for every one, but PSN is. there for PSN should be getting the most attention by Sony. Home looks good, but i rather have a stronger online service before a free application that isnt needed.
There is nothing i home that you need that you'll haqve to pay for; clothing. standard apartments, furnishings, games all that is free. it's not second life it's simply a way to personalize your online experience better. Home will never really be a "Second life", because it's only there to enhance your Playstation 3 experience not create a NEW one.
I have to get the Norwegian Lodge. It looks so Norwegian.
Thanks PSU
First off...the Xbox 360 doesn't have an in game XMB...sony owns the XMB...it's short for Xross (cross) Media Bar...X(being a cross)MB.
Having said that, i do agree with twista...XBL is a better service at the moment, cross game chat, access to messages any time, see who is online, what they're doing and who they're playing with (to a certain extent). They constantly add new themes and gamer pictures and there's access to your XBL account online to see what your mates are up to...something thats kinda handy when you're at work.
I love my PS3, but the online service is severly lacking and if it had been launched as a pay service i wouldn't have been paying for it. Having said this, Sony have been listening and lets face it...if M$ have set the bar then Sony only have one option and thats to bypass it completely...I look forward to being able to use the little PS button on my controller to access the power of my PS3 in the middle of a game...
sweet see if home was relwased it wouldnt have been near finished people need to learn to be patient and that delays are ultimately a good hting
SWEET! I had been getting worried. I hadn't heard anything in a while.
OK let's get real on this topic: Sony has implemented NOTHING NEW in the Home beta (Including all the features that they showed at E3 2007)! So it's fine an dandy that Sony promises to make the a better application, but when? When did Sony say Home was still on track for this spring???
If they don't confirm the release date at GDC it is very safe to assume it is delayed !!
Thanks McGriddles and JD-82!
Finally I get replies from people that actually have a knowledge of gaming.
I hope they release Home during our right after GDC!
icantwait for home to come out ,.......... this will be more fun than XLIVe...... yeah HOME sounds great!!
lol if you pay money for a virtual apartment u are g@y...
Spring? Is that North American Spring or Australia Spring as its like a 6 month difference,
That Crib of Chaos will be the name of my house hahahahaha.
this is gonna be like a 2nd life, like msyapce though i hate mspace and i know all you geeks had a myspace but i didnt hahaha.
home looks so much fun.
Hey @ Darlblade1 "In my opinion psn is better than XBL and I think many of us will agree" i think so.. plus its free!!! what is xmb? the only thing i think that PSN needs is a virus protector, easier chat and messages ( even in games) aside from that I think home is goin to be great..and a hit... the ps eye may actually get used now!!
Give us a Oil Rig apartment ! lmfao haha that would be epic.
I wish I was in on the BETA testing.
Hopefully we don't get anymore delays and a good showing of Home when it hits.
Stick that in your pipe and smoke it Xbots! Home's gonna be SWEET!!!
Sounds nice.
OMG 12 sec for going to the theatre! Its too muuuucchhh!!! :P
man.... its cool my legs is not soo good and i can't meet my friends always in outside just some better days i can go. if home is realased then we can always meets and going games movies its fun : )
Im thinking about a PSU camp in HOME ;)
I wish they could make a virtual word inside, so you could go on holidays with ur mates and etc, if thouse c...nts say 12 seconds it too long to walk oh come on, its good u can walf with ur friend while talking on the blue tooth headset, I dont mind if it would sake 10 minutes, or take a cab.
To thouse who are waiting for in Game XBM , why the f... do u need it? listen or want movies or pictures while you are playing game? that if bulls..t, who needs that? for me its no big deal to quit the game. Or okay maybe give and acess to friends list and msg thats all I need.
If in game XBM will reduce the productivity of console in game, I dont need that I all
12 seconds????????????? thats for the fat lazy americans!!!!!!! thats why the apartments have been made bigger, so the americans can get their extra large fridges in.......
Who cares about xbox live? Everyone concentrates on it so much the important facts are forgotten such as how sh!t the hardware is, they really didnt think about anything when they launched the xbox360, no hdd drive, still using standard dvds, not even their 'apparantly brilliant' hd-dvds, which is weird seeing as microsoft were backing this format from the start. Its as though the guys behind the scenes were downing JD and said 'i know, ive got it... whatever Sony come up with we'll copy with add-ons and such, great stuff.. to the pub now'
rant over !
Let's hope they get a strong enough server farm, this time around.
I no that i definately will be gettin the spekal appartments lol
Did you hear? Sony is delaying it until PS4
@ Punisher99. Yeh I totally agree with you there. The XMB looks a lot better than the dashboard.
@dj_superior. The reason I want In-Game XMB (or at least some version of the XMB) is so that you can send messages, start chats, add friends that you are playing with, look at what other people are playing, play some music and maybe other things like looking up a walkthrough for the game your playing on the browser and maybe visiting the Store to download while you're playing an offline game.
@IONIXX...considering that I have a degree and an IQ that approaches cenius level (not my words...legitimate IQ test) i would say that I have more brains that a 12 year old pre-pubescent fanboy that "lives for Sony". I love my PS3, i do, but i love gaming more...I play the games for the games...i buy multiplatform games on the console where they have the best features and support...example...Burnout and Smackdown...2 excellent games and better on the PS3.
However, having said all of this, XBL does have a superior service AT THIS TIME...I have no doubts that Sony will bring something spectacular to the table to compete with Microsoft but when push comes to shove XBL is a better service. There are many things that frustrate me about it...the themes, the gamer pics and so on...all of these cost money...which is stupid...Sony on the other hand allow us to make our own themes and wallpapers...for free...
I know that we're going to have to agree to disagree because you, as a fanboy, wouldn't understand true gaming...the pleasure that comes from playing an amazingly crafted piece of software...i number among these games...Final Fantasy VII through to XII, Bioshock, Mass Effect, Oblivion, Folklore, Resistance, Motorstorm, COD4, Resident Evil 4, Gears of War, Forza 2, GTA3 through to San Andreas...and the list goes on and on...If you ever get the money or brains to save up and get yourself an Xbox360 and take off your blinkers you would see that a whole world of gaming awaits you that you're ignoring because it doesn't have a PS logo on it...grow up kid.
spot on
@JD-82 Don't wet yourself mate! It's just a conversation.
I look forward to home for something different on the console scene, any console that is. XBL is a great service, but I get what I want to a point from PSN so who cares. There will be updates for both I am sure but on PSN you get these updates for free and IMO PS3 is gonna be around for a lot longer therefore more updates and time to improve!
good good cant wait for this
very interesting.
This is what will make Home and PS3 the best. Instead of Achievement points gather into a score like on 360, Achievements in games turn into Home currency to buy new furniture and clothes and whatnot for your character. Im sure they want to charge for some items but paying real money for different hairstyles and shirts would SUCK
Oh good...Spring. Very precise and helpful Sony.
