New feature wanted: Disable Trophy notifications

Not having the option to disable Trophy notifications has never really been an issue for us, until now. We’re currently playing the latest iteration in SEGA’s Virtua Tennis series, Virtua Tennis 2009, and on a number of occasions the Trophy pop-up box has interrupted the game mid-match, causing us to lose points in the process.
While this isn’t a major issue, it’s still irritating to be serving for a match point only for a notification to pop up as your opponent is about to return the ball. We’ve lost match points by being distracted. Online, where leaderboard positioning and pride is at stake, it's even more of an issue. It's quite simply a problem that could be avoided if gamers had the option to disable them. You can disable PSN notifications, so why not Trophy pop-ups?
In Virtua Tennis 2009, we’ve counted nine Trophies that have the potential of messing up your game, including those relating to serving, such as "Hit a serve over 200kph/124.28mph," or "Achieve 250 max serves," and other Trophies likely to trigger on match-days such as "Win 400 stoke points," or "Win 50 lob points."
Normally, we like to see the Trophies we're unlocking, but in this case, where you can't afford to keep your eye off the ball for one second, they're totally intrusive.
How hard would it be add the feature via a patch? It seems that we’re not the only ones who’d like to be able to disable Trophy notifications; over at the official PlayStation forums there is much debate on the subject.
Anyone else ever been irritated by Trophy pop-ups?

So far Trophy pop-ups haven't bothered me, but for a tennis game where you need to keep an eye on the ball, I can understand why it would be nice to have a 'Disable Trophy Notification' option.

I've never ONCE been distracted by a trophy notification, in fact concidering how some trophies can be bugged and not trigger at all some times like the Burnout paradise problem (that forces you to create a back of your game and start a new one just to get them) I'd Rather be told definitivly that I DID infact get it.

Err, what...
Does the trophy itself actually block line of sight? Because if you're just talking about it being an annoying pop-up that puts you off, I'd advise you to learn some self control. When I'm really into a game and concentrating hard, a twitch shooter for example, I don't even notice the trophies.
Bit of a stupid rant article IMO, not becoming of PSU. -

What a bunch a crybaby, they need their mommy to turn off the trophy notifications. I like seeing what trophy I get when I'm playing the any games. All it is, it on top right hand corner, so what the big deals.

No. If you're seriously getting distracted because something is popping up in the corner of the screen, how can you play half the games out there? Just ignore the trophy notification, wait until the point is over, then pause and check out what you just got. It's not a big deal.
Like how the heII did you ever play Mario Tennis?

The only problem with the PS3 trophy pop-ups sometimes is in a game where you have info in the top right corner, i've only had a problem very rarely but sometimes a trophy pop-up has hidden some info at the wrong moment along with pop-ups of people coming online or a message received.
The 360 has the pop-up right in the middle of the screen at the bottom, a much better place that never interupts the HUD but PS3 can't have the same so I'm not that bothered.

I like the way 3-on-3 NHL Arcade does it where you get trophies at the end of the game, not during.

The simplist answer would be for the game devs to code the notification to pop up when the match has finished.............hey presto, no need to turn them off!!
I would guess that the devs could patch the issue on this game. Maybe?

The only annoying thing about trophy pop-ups is that they don't come up instantly after meeting the criteria like achievement pop-ups on 360. Like someone mentioned before, with some trophies bugged in certain games, it's nice to know ASAP whether you got the trophy or not.

Well, Sony haven't bothered fixing and of the other smaller problems that they could fix in about a day if that, so why would they start now?

Can't say they've ever bothered me, in fact quite the reverse - I love it when they pop. Wouldn't it be better for this particular developer to fire the trophy off at a different time, rather than change the whole way trophies work because this one game has them badly placed?

first everyone begs for an achievement system, now somebody had to come along and complain about it being annoying.
its one game, and if its only 9 trophys, im sure you can handle 9 short interupts. then its all over and you can rest assure that you wont get those same trophys ever again.
this article is pointless.

Features for the ADD generation...
Trophy notifications are so small and insignificant, they simply CANNOT take your concentration, unless you have VERY poor concentration in the first place.
I'm seriously beginning to smell the seeds of something wrong at PSU... First the articles about the PS3 outselling Wii in Japan for only 3 weeks when it was 10, then when the Wii had a week up on the PS3, they immediately felt the need to proclaim how the PS3 was falling behind again.
Now a rant about trophy notifications getting in the way of their "Match points...."
Your Halos are slipping PSU...

"Trophy pop-up box has interrupted the game mid-match"
How did the notification interrupt your game? It never does that. And if it does, it's a game design problem, not Sony problem.
Yes, would be nice to have the option, even if we don't use it, but the reason behind this request is...

Seems insignificant to me as well, but then again I'm playing on a really big screen and the trophy notifications take up a tiny amount of screen real estate as a result.
I think Steven should really be asking for better trophy integration by the developers. i.e. for something like tennis, the trophy notification(s) should wait until the point is complete.
