Take a look at Mirror's Edge's upcoming demoRockstar has already set its sights on their next project once that small game known as Grand Theft Auto IV is released at the end of April.
Sources close to Rockstar are hinting that the developer is currently working on a new Max Payne title that will release in 2009 on the 360 and PS3. The release is expect to be simultaneous with the Hollywood debut of the Max Payne movie. After a conference call to its investors revealed that Rockstar would be working on a major sequel after the release of Grand Theft Auto IV, this rumor of a new Max Payne game has surfaced.
The original Max Payne games drew a lot of attention to its dark, adult themes, as well as the incorporation of "bullet time" for the first time in a game eventually leading to many spin-offs of the same technology. Although Max Payne is the front runner for this new sequel, other games in Rockstar's library that could be receiving a sequel include Bully and Manhunt.
The Max Payne movie began production earlier this year and already has signed on Mark Wahlberg and Mila Kunis for two of the primary roles in the movie. The movie along with the game are working toward a release date in 2009.

I think it's a new IP which is said to be Sony exclusive.
Yeah I remember a game that was announced from Rockstar that was going to be PS3 exlcusive because it couldn't fit on a DVD. It was like GTA but back in like the 40s? 50s? Or something like that...
i liked the first max payne never played the second one but it was fun i hope it is true because the game was fun
There are actually TWO Sony exclusives in the works and this is neither of them. The one set in the 20s is called LA Noir, and the other Sony exclusive is untitled but is promised to push new boundaries in gaming the same way GTA III did several years ago.

Neither of Rockstar's exclusives are that way because they don't fit on DVD (although I'm sure they won't), they are exclusive because of the relationship between Sony and Rockstar... both companies have made eachother a TON of money with the GTA series so Rockstar will continue to support Sony, since Sony supported them during the PS2 era.
@Stikemup The game youre talking about is "LA Noir", but I remember hearing that it was another IP not LA Noir.
Mark Wahlberg and mila Kunis!!!!!!?????????? WHAAAAAT?!?! They should have gotten the guy that did "the punisher", he fit the role PERFECTLY.....looks like this is another videogame movie that is going to suck HARDCORE!!
remember in the original max payne on the playstation 2 where that girl gave you a shot and you fell uncouncious and you had the dream where you walk on that trail of blood, i will never forget that, i had nightmares. i was only 8
I sure hope that Rockstar is making Max Payne 3. I simply LOVED the first Max Payne and Max Payne 2. Max Payne 2 has some framerate issues or something because the gameplay would slow down during certain times and it really annoyed me.
If it's Max Payne 3, it would really be a big hit. However, most games that are based on movies tend to end up not being so good, but I'm certain that Rockstar wont fall into that trap. Rockstar knows better than to fall into that category and of course, Rockstar has a reputation to keep, so they WON'T let that happen.

rockstars ps3 exclusive is L.A. NOIRE. who knows what this one will be..
Max Payne's good, but I'd prefer LA Noire first.
Hey French, actually when I heard of that title, they had said it was going to be exclusive because of it's size. And if they are buddies with Sony why does GTA4 have more content on the 360? Why didn't they just make that an exlcusive, and make the other games multi-platform. That would have made the PS3 the console to own. We wouldn't even have a battle going on.
Sounds good but I am going to have to try and find the first 2. @Sickemup The extra conntent that is going to the XBOX is because MS paid for it, not because of they do not favor SONY. Also there are rumor's that the PS3 will also get DLC next year..
Im hoping for a new Bully game actually.. or even Manhunt... not a big fan of the Max Payne games.
@Xspike, Thomas Jane (punisher) would not suit Max Payne atall, take a closer look at Mark Wahlberg, i think this movie could be a hit, IF the moneys right!
i hope it is max payne 3, the first two games were awesome, and as for it coming out with the movie, i don't normally rate games for movies but i have faith in rockstar, they rarely put out sub-par games, that is if EA don't take over. then we're all in for an exciting advertisement driven future!

max payne is a blast, one of the best single player games i've ever played, the story is just so dark you sink right into the character, hope this is a sequel to max payne!
why don't they start work on gta v instead
