Aaron Greenberg, Group Product Manager for Xbox 360 has debunked speculation that Microsoft would support Sony’s Blu-ray format following the demise of HD-DVD.
Greenberg stated "Xbox is not currently in talks with Sony or the Blu-ray Association to integrate Blu-ray into the Xbox experience."
Instead of adding Blu-ray playability to the 360, Microsoft will continue to invest in Xbox Live and other online services.
"We’re the only console offering digital distribution of entertainment content," Greenberg said. "We definitely expect we will trail in February as a result of our supply constraints," adding that "By April, we will be in a very healthy inventory situation," which is just in time for Grand Theft Auto IV which is to be released in late April.
In closing, Greenberg commented, "We still think we have a great value, that we have significantly better value than Sony. Every month we’ve actually been in stock we’ve outsold them by a 2 to 1 margin."
