No more 30fps for EA PS3 titles, says Moore

Many consumers were angered upon the discovery that the PlayStation 3 version of Electronic Arts’ Madden 08 ran at a reduced 30fps, despite its Xbox 360 counterpart running at a full 60fps.

However, former Xbox boss Peter Moore has now declared that these issues will soon be rectified, pretty much eliminating far-fetched rumors of how he purposely tried to sabotage EA's PS3 titles. Moore, now head of EA Sports, commented that starting with NBA Live 08, all EA sports titles will be guaranteed to run at 60 frames a second on the PS3 (including the previously 30fps-announced NHL 08)

Answering in regards to the reason why the PS3 version suffered from such limitations, Moore made it clear developers have simply not had enough time with PS3 development kits.

"I see it [the issue] going away with NBA Live 08. I think that we had a little bit of a mea culpa, but we're getting up to speed on the platform. But that's in the past. And beginning with NBA, we're going to see PS3 titles from EA Sports running at 60 frames a second. So all of that'll be forgotten by the holiday”, said Moore.

We at PSU can only hope that Moore’s words will ring true come this holiday season.

    NHL 08 is the greatest sports game ever created.  Running at 60 fps just made my day.

    wow, so this peter moore dude is now working for ea?  don't know if thats good news or bad for sony.  hopefully not...but we all know how bill gates is pretty sneaky... always up to no-good shinanigans...

    Peter Moore is a d!ck.. imo he DID sabotage the Madden game, and will probebly do so in the future.. I mean why have someone that hates Sony head of THE biggest gaming company (sports devision) in the world? Make sense anyone?

    the issues won't be rectified unless you can update or re-release madden at 60 fps, and we all know that won't happen.at least they're making an effort now.

    Even if NHL 08 is delayed I will be happy to see it at 60fps. I still think it will look better on 360 but next year will start a whole new story for PS3 and EA.

    sniperwithacause, why boo too hockey?,,,,, cause its exciting and physical, and there aren't 15 players going to jail this year??????? I dont understand why people dont enjoy the frozen game! Its clearly the quickest and fluid of all the major sports in N.A,,,,, its a shame really

    I would much rather them be the same game and allow for cross-platform online play.

    One of my friends has played madden on all 3 systems: Wii, 360 and PS3, he told me he thought the ps3 version was the best, so I went and picked it up, over 07 it is a HUGE improvement, the games don't take 55 minutes cuz of the damn cut scenes that you can't 'X' out of, and it's not perfectly smooth, but there were MANY improvements, I know the 60 fps would have been nice, but next year everything will be fine. And at first I was real worried about this Moore dude going to EA. Damn Microsoft trying to take everything over. Anyway only time will tell, all I play now is Warhawk anwyay! :-)

    Ok Peter more is almost no longer Satan to me - if he follows through!! - lets hope he left Hexbox on bad terms and has been converted? Is EA going to see the light and start focusing on the PS3?? can we be so luckly??......yeah I know wishful thinking

    I personally could care less about these National Sports League games since I'm not into them anyways.  All I care about is the next Need For Speed game due out at the end of next month.  If that games isn't all that I hope for in the next NFS,... then I'm done with EA... completely!  Peter Moore aside, EA as a whole needs to shape up their business and their games because they are headed the wrong way on a one way street towards the edge of a cliff at the rate they're going.  I hope they turn it around and soon.

    When I read the title and realized it was said by Moore, I thought they would start producing PS3 games at 15fps now or something.  XD

    has anyone played nba live 08, the game is beautiful. finally a bball game that actually plays like real basketball. the games smooth all the way round. its a beauty. the first bball game i will buy since nba jam.

    The last basketball game I took seriously was NBA Showtime on NBC for the Dreamcast.......that was the best!!
