No video streaming for PlayStation Home?

According to Wired, much-anticipated 3D networking service PlayStation Home will launch without the option to stream videos from the PlayStation 3 hard drive.
The video sharing function would allow users to screen films for their friends in their digital apartments. To be honest, we're not sure we can see the fun side of being able to watch your and other people's avatars watching a film, but it's certainly an impressive technological feat.
Home director Jack Buser refused to confirm that the feature would ever see daylight, commenting only that Sony was "looking into" adding it at a later date. Fingers crossed, then.

How would they stop people illegally sharing movies and crap? No surprise really.

I can definitely see the fun side to this! If you have movies you've made with your friends or something on your ps3 hard drive, you can share it with your people visiting your apartment! I think that would be AWESOME!!!!

im sure theres alot of things they have to go through to make sure it isnt considered piracy, i dont mind having this feature at a later date, and FYI you would be able to look at the screen from first person view so you could actually watch the movie

Thisis definately something I was looking forward to. I think they're just trying to put something in place to control smut. You KNOW it's going to be like that.

TBH, I believe this wasn't an issue for Sony until they relaesed their video store. The fact that the content nabbed off the store can be transferred to the PSP created a loophole for it to be shared (to what extent who knows) and it may have opened the idea for someone to announce movie night at their apartment. I don't know what the max was for guests but if one person owns a movie then 5 people could watch at no cost to them and would cause Sony to be out of 5 purchases (assuming). So instead of letting it happen, the cut it off at the knees and the 'we're looking into it' could just be a matter of closing those security holes and will most likely take some time to do. Just my 2....

They should just release it now then,if they're not even gonna deliver on their promises, even though they said everything wouldn't be in there on day one.
