Were you one of the PlayStation 3 adopters who bought a 20 or 40GB console? If so, you've probably been disappointed with the fact you only get the option of utilizing two different USB ports with little to no card readers either. Nyko has realized this shortage of options and has decided to do something about it for its PlayStation accessory supporters by releasing what they're calling a "Media Hub."

"We found that many of our customers who had purchased the popular 40 GB version of the PS3, which has less USB ports and no media card reader, were looking for an affordable solution to expand with these features," said Chris Arbogast, Director of Marketing at Nyko Technologies. "With the Media Hub, an additional three USB ports and a media card reader are now possible for all PS3 models, allowing consumers to enjoy the full capabilities of their multimedia system no matter which model they choose."

If you're interested in picking this accessory up, it is expected to retail for $20 and to hit shelves sometime in August. Once a more concrete date is set, we'll be sure to keep you guys notified.

I have all four slots filled up and I use the SD Reader for my digital camera. Lol With my DS3 charger, PS Eye, USB Headset and my USB SingStar hookup...I could use a couple more, lol.

Great, I love my SD card slot. Use it for my digital camera all the time. And with the guitar hero thing, the usb cable to the charging station and the usb-mini-cable hanging loose, ready to charge my headset I have already used up three usb slots. The forth is used for the usb stick to move files from the ps3.

    God! I wouldn't survive a 40gb model. :P

These USB expander, and card readers have been availble since before launch day. You don't need a special NYKO brand... especially for $20. Others are much cheaper. Shop around first.

only 2 ekstra ports as i assume it already uses one itself ? hence reducing the expansion by 1.

Interesting, although im lucky with my 60gig console.

However, i m wondering, how will this connect to the PS3 console?

But, if it connects using USB, then technically u only get 2 extra ports, not 3, as one of the ports is taken up by the hub!
