PES 2009 dated, UEFA Champions League mode revealed

Konami's Pro Evolution Soccer 2009 will hit PlayStation 3, PC and Xbox 360 on October 17, according to MCVUK.

Of course, no PES reveal would be complete without the odd jab in the direction of EA's rival FIFA series, and PES team leader Jon Murphy doesn't disappoint. “It is all very well for EA to say that FIFA is making great strides," he told MCVUK, "but general opinion suggests that they still have a long way to go before they can match the intuitive and absorbing gameplay of Pro Evolution Soccer.”

“That is not to say that we are resting on our laurels, though," Murphy went on. "PES 2009 has a vast number of new additions that elevate it far beyond anything anyone else is doing.”

What additions, you ask? Well how about a new fully licensed UEFA Champions League mode, plus licensing agreements with Manchester United and Liverpool? Add that to a graphical tune-up, AI improvements, revamped control and "key online enhancements", and you're looking at one tasty game of two halves. Lionel Messi will be the game's new cover star.

A PlayStation 2 and PlayStation Portable version are also in the works.

Yeah I care nothing for Soccer, Where is the EU PS store update?!?!?!??!?

Some of us ( the people who have imported rock band and want the DLC & cannot get an entropay account becasue I'm not 18 (and my parents wont sign up for it) ) need to know whether the Rock Band DLC is available in Austriala seeing as we get the same content as EU.

@3- Why post a comment one news about pes if you dont care? stop whining I have same problem as yourself, i'm waitinf for the psn cards to hit Ireland to buy few things.

@4-  I know what you mean about licensing but pes has its proper editing back so just do it in game yourself or go to pesfan and get an option file. easy :D While from what I've been hearing from various sites is that all the names and faces are proper(beckham has tattoo on neck), and it'll have dlc in feb (transfer updates imo)

Cant wait for this game, even though 08 was terrible compared to previous versions, It still gives you the feeling of accomplisment when you beat a friend, Fifa with all the gimmicks and licensing, still hasnt achieved this yet..

@5 I'm doing this because this is one of the most recent news articles and has only just been posted. This means more people are likely to read it.

That way, someone can answer me and also know about "Project Evolution Soccer 2009"

cant wait, real footy fans choose pro evo. Fifa is a gimmick its not real footy its a fake. The ball movement in fifa is so unreal its daft, in pro evo u never score the same goal twice, typical EA through money at a game to make it work, it will always be behind pro evo.
