Times are looking decidedly rosier for PlayStation 3 in Japan as of late, with the latest Media Create data revealing that the console has trumped Xbox 360 in the region for the week ended November 30.
Sony’s black box shifted 34,978 units compared to the Xbox 360’s 11,423, while the PlayStation Portable turned in another solid performance with 55,090 units sold, behind the DSi at 87,185.
Here are the official numbers:
- DSi - 87,185
- PSP - 55,090
- Wii - 49,848
- PS3 - 34,978
- DS Lite - 26,851
- Xbox 360 - 11,423
- PS2 - 5,628
Hopefully Sony can continue high numbers in Japan over the holiday season, especially with major RPG releases like White Knight Chronicles approaching.

So is the PS2 finally gonna lay down? I swear, that thing is like Rocky Balboa. An old, beloved champion with a big punch and fans everywhere.

10 years from now the PS3 is still going to be selling, much like the PS2 is doing right now. Sony are thinking long term.
