PS3 version of Diablo III not likely

Today in Paris at the Blizzard World Invitational, Blizzard Entertainment revealed much anticipated RPG, Diablo III. With past rumors suggesting that Blizzard was developing for the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360, PSU.com contacted Blizzard Entertainment to see if Diablo III would see light of day on console platforms.

"Yes, this is PC/Mac," said the Blizzard Representative. "As with all of Blizzard Entertainment's recent releases, Diablo III will ship for both Windows and Mac simultaneously."



So as of right now, PlayStation 3 gamers will have to find something else to satisfy their dungeon RPG hungers. Stay tuned to PSU.com for more information.

    Just the way it should be.  If that picture is official then that game is gonna be sweet.

    err? to me it sounds more like its just saying that it will come to PC and MAC at the same time, not saying there will be no console version, blizzard are whores, there will be atleast a 360 version.

    We contacted Blizzard about a rumor PSU heard....that Blizzard currently has Xbox 360 and PS3 dev kits, and they responded stating

     

    "We can't comment on rumors and speculation."

    PC only? Why?
    I doubt I'll get Diablo III now.
    I can't be bothered to go back to PC.

    That why I like blizzard, they take care PC gamer not like other developers spending making a game for multiplatform and found out tons of bugs

    shouldn't this be titled "console version not likely"?  When I first saw it, it gave me the impression that it was going to the 360 but not PS3, which I know will get some people going.

     Well, all they did was a "no comment" on console porting, basically.  If this sells tons, I could see them making a port.  Frankly though, it would be best suited for the PS3 due to mouse and keyboard support.  If they did that, they wouldn't need to change much and re-engineer things for console controllers.  Let's hope so!

    no one would buy it for ps3 anyway. Atleast not me. That's one of the games that's meant to be played on pc :p

     I don't really care.  I loved Diablo II, but that was the only reason I actually played on my computer.  That and Starcraft.  PS3 is still the greatest.

    Blizzard should really start to think about going to consoles. PC gaming has it's days counted. Everybody that tries a console never wants' to hear about PCs anymore. The otherwise never happens.

    @shadowrth Where did you get your information?? I clearly remember Diablo porting to the PS1 long after it was on Pc. Get your facts straight !

    It's a shame - I don't game on PCs anymore, I've had it with constant upgrades, unstable OS's, incompatible hardware.  If it comes out on PS3 down the track, I'll definitely pick it up (I've still got my PSOne copy of Diablo).

    That sucks seeing as the PS3 can use a keyboard and mouse. I hope Blizzard rethinks this or may be Activision will make them rethink it them self.

    It will go to the 360 I bet but PS3 owners will be screwed again. It dont bother me much I dont play PC games specially if the crossover from PC to console.

    I doubt anoy PS3 onwer had plans on getting Diablo3 either way, why should any of us really care? It's a PC game let it stay there. It'll be cheaper too.

    psn id: gingo.... never expected blizzard to be doing any developing on the consoles but i got a bit shocked when it said ps3 version not likely as i thot there might be a 360 version on the cards but there wasn't so at least we are not getting shafted again

    Blizzard does have PS3 developers on staff as they posted numerous positions for PS3 devs/programmers a while back. So we know they are least developing SOMETHING for the PS3.

    @acid hippie i never remembered diablo 1 for pc it was on playstation 1 and that's what i remember but i didn't follow pc then and still don't.

    So if Diablo isn't on ps3 - i'll be playing it by streaming it to the ps3 anyway - how funny... us gamers just like the big effects on the big screen - they don't want to sell it to us... well we find another way hehe. www.streammygame.com

    I've been using pc's for the last 25yrs (Long live the microbee) and  Diablo is an institution - I hope the PSN releases diablo 1 soon! C&C on it was soo cool.

    Anyways - Sacred 2 is coming out on PS3 now in November- its similar to Diablo and has a good story as well. I was fearing the worse when i heard S2 wasn't coming out on ps3 however they clarified it a few weeks ago. W00t.

    Something about this genre which has me thinking... its so popular but there is not a huge developer base for it. The 3d iso format gives a good view of the action... i hope there is some more coming out - i don't really care for zooming in to see pixels.. i just want a zoomed out 3d action RPG in the diablo mold please! (and while your at it, make a lot please developers lol)
