PSN has "all the capabilities," says Army of Two dev

Posted on February 5th, 2008 at 10:35 EDT

Matt Turner, Assistant Producer for Electronic Arts’ forthcoming Army of Two, has declared that Sony’s PlayStation Network has “all the capabilities” of its rival Xbox Live, but admitted the studio has more experience in working with Microsoft’s online service.

Speaking with CVG, Turner commented, "There are extra challenges [with PSN] just because the PS3 is newer to our team so we've had to work through some growing pains, getting used to a whole new system of development.”

"But it has all of the capabilities, it's just that at the moment we have more experience on the Xbox”, he added.

Turner also said that Army of Two would mirror a similar online menu service to that of Burnout Paradise, stating, “We have friends lists accessible during the game, you can send invites and your friends can join you - it's as easy as doing it on Xbox Live.”

Army of Two is due out on PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 on March 4.

The more familiar the developers become with PSN the better the interactivity will become

Meh, you'll never convince xbots that anything is even on par with what they have, thick headed they are.

Every once in a while EA will get something right.  I can only hope this is one of them.  Been looking forward to this game since its announcement.

all theses excuses on why theses developers can't produce we all know that the PS3 has the capabilities of the XBL if not more capabilities... developers have came out before and said this but haven't deliver ..... look at warhawk one of the best games on any network period .. So we all know that PS3 has more capabilities than then its competitor XBL..... Its the developers not SONY .. Im pretty sure when more time they'll get it down but after awhile these companies are not going to be able to use these excuses no more.. this is the SONY 's second yr so when it hit the third yr are they going to be using the same excuses ....

xbl is better can u guys stop comparing them? i mean xbl costs money and its no suprise its better, if you look all the details it beats psn (wich looks bad to me, looks really small and i can see they didnt go with the design too much). anyways well his talking about the gaming part and its on that front the devs are more free and its all about the gaming but when it comes to service they beat us by far

People just love to say XBL is better? But why? They offer VOD service but the PSN is capable of that. It certainly doesn't game better. I have experienced alot of lage on live while almost none on the PSN. The next few comparisons only fall in line with features that the OS offers and really have nothing to do with the service.

IT's like a broken record spouting idiotic stuff.

Well lets see in action shall we? With EA it usually a hit or miss. People usually bag on them for their misses. However that has yet to be proven on how Army of Two stands when released.

Lookin forward to this game, just hope I can turn off that crappy glowing Red, like the agrow thing but not the glowing. If the menus are the same as Burn-Out that will be a real bonus (realy wish all dev's had the sence to do that, makes life a lot easier)

actually from a technical standpoint the psn is easier and more powerful because its an open platform like... the internet people can put anything they want on it do anything they want with it with little or no restrictions and sony designed it to be like this from the begining

EA has been saying alot of nice stuff lately about the PS3. I hope they now focus on the PS3 and make the PS3 lead platform during development.
