PSN movie store allows re-downloading

Despite rumours to the contrary, it appears that Sony Computer Entertainment America (SCEA) has been more than a little accommodating in its DRM-enforcement policy, allowing users to re-download purchased movies on a one-time basis provided the original has already been deleted.
“If a consumer deletes a purchased movie from their PS3, they will not be able to re-download the movie without assistance from SCEA’s consumer services,” stated PSN spokesperson Lincoln Davis.
“Consumer service can issue a re-download as a one-time courtesy, as provided by our guidelines, for the title to allow the consumer to go back and download the movie from their PSN download list.”
A little bit of a hassle to activate then, but a nice gesture nonetheless. We'd love to hear news of that European video store at some point though...

Does that mean you have to phone SCEA and speak w/ consumer service, just to re-download content that's already been paid for? So, let me get this straight: if you want to upgrade your HDD and you've downloaded, say, 10 movies and 18 TV episodes (NONE of which you're able to back up on any type of external source), you have to actually call SCEA and ask them for the ability to re-download your content? Really? C'mon, how lame.
I mean, isn't the point of DRM's to associate specific content w/ a specific user? Why can't I take my PSN Video Store content and back it up?

@PS3!!!!!: It is coming to Canada, we've got official word on that. Its just a matter of when. Sony has to jump through some legal hoops. Sony is bound by law just like any other company.

Still not happy with that. Basically there'ye sayin is you can't back up your fioles youve apid for if you go to upgrade your Hard Drive WHICH SONY THEMSELVES ADVISE YOU TO DO!!!
..Are you jokin me? And then to add insult to injury, they say "Well, if you phone us, we can allow you to redownload it.". Sounds nice, butby the sounds of this post, they can only allow you to do so once!!!
Here's my two cents...
F**K DRM.
