2K Games details BioShock PS3 patchA little less than a month ago the PS3 received DivX certification allowing it to play all DivX video files on the multi-functional gaming console. Now rumor has it that Sony's other multi-functional system, the PSP, will be receiving the same certification in a future firmware update.
The PSP has generated alot of excitement over the past week , one specific new feature that was announced at CES was that future Blu-Ray movies would be packaged with a copy of the film on the Blu-Ray disc that would be optimized for the PSP, as well as be easily transferable to the PSP. This has been one of the more exciting features out of a group that includes Skype for the PSP, a GPS add-on, and an Internet Radio feature released in the last PSP firmware update.
This rumored DivX feature that is set to appear on the PSP and will allow users to download movies and TV shows through the PlayStation PC store, transferred from PS3, and from selected third party online retailers. The new feature is said to be available with firmware update 4.0 which may be released within the next two months.
Currently the PSP's firmware version is 3.80. Stay tuned for any updates of this latest rumor.

nice good stuff
Awesome. Kind of a no brainer actually. :P
I am most pleased. It is a no brainer though. lol
it should be here by now......come on sony....
Do it Do it Do it Do it
awesome!
One more step to NEVER needing another handhelf media device!!
Sony is adding so much to the PS3 and PSP i dunno if i can keep up. I want a slim and i want GPS for my PSP. Cant wait for Home, in game XMB, and so much more for PS3. Im lovin it
Thats good but i didnt know that Blu-Ray movies would be packaged with a copy of the film on the Blu-Ray disc that would be optimized for the PSP, which is not what you want really. i would like to see the PS3 have the abillity to convert and optimise ANY DVD or Blu Ray for the PSP
Ok, to be fair, unless your ten and like mario, PSP is the only and best handheld console ever... Add to that the reasonable prices now and the continuous updates and features being packing into the device... We should all be in heaven...
I dont own a PS3 and frankly never really want to.. I'm a PC gamer.. Give me Crysis any day of the week.. But then it links just as well with teh PC to share data etc..
As for the comment about having the PS3 convert movies... A quick google will find numerous tools to do the exact same thing on PC hardware designed to do the task.. hence 5 times faster... What we need is for sony to keep pushing the boundries of the device.. OK there doing it to sell more.. who cares.. Ive got mine.. and when I brought it I was happy with the features... So every little addition to sell more, to me is a bonus...
Lets hope other companies take note...
