We've stumbled across a tantalizing bit of news on a rather intriguing PSN title today. It appears that the curious PixelJunk Eden will finally arrive in the hands of gamers in July, but not in the form one might expect. Unlike the past entries in the PixelJunk canon (Racers and Monsters), Eden will receive a demo prior to its official release, according to Q-Games' head Dylan Cuthbert. Cuthbert also reconfirmed Youtube support for Eden and brought up the possibility of a minuscule but free patch for PixelJunk Monsters.
In PixelJunk Eden, the latest downloadable entry to the PixelJunk series from developer Q-Games, living and luminous plant-life grows in real-time to form a lively stage. In this constantly evolving environment, players control a small creature called a “Grimp” (a combination of “grip” and “jump”) to explore a dynamic setting alive with color and sound. By smashing into enemies, the player releases batches of pollen that can help the lush alien plants change and grow. As they develop, players can leap, swing and soar between them to get further through the undergrowth and gather all the bundles of energy and light from the level before the time available runs out.

The PSN really does collect the most innovative and original downloadable/arcade titles out there.

I still play Monsters, and i've heard good things about Racers, so I'm sure this will be worth checking out. I've had more fun with some of these downloadable independant titles than some of the full blown large studio/budget titles. Just goes to show graphics and hype aren't always most important. Or maybe I just like the old school vibe? lol.
