PlayStation Home delayed

Kaz Hirai revealed that PlayStation Home has been delayed until early 2008.
The 3D social network for PlayStation 3 was originally scheduled for launch this Fall. Rumours had been circulating of a phased rollout, but now it appears the company has decided to move to a worldwide launch next year.
Kaz explained that the delay was not for technical reasons, but rather down to regionalisation. He (or perhaps Sony as a company) wants to have the full range of services available worldwide, along with a managed environment as opposed to a lawless one.
He also said the delay was a response to user feedback.

Home and Rumble in the Spring? What gives. Though it's nice to know they are coming...eventually, again with the delays Sony. Besides price, the delays are ridiculous.
I love Warhawk, but I HATE that I cannot communicate with friends in game nor invite my friends in game. Home is supposed to resolve this, now I have to wait another ?? months. I have to say, so far the TGS has been a moderate failure. I'm a fan, but it's hard to continuously defend this crap.

They don't have to launch Home, but at least give us some of the features via firmware so we can fully enjoy our current lineup of games before we lose interest. Warhawk is such a great game, but with so much else coming out this year and next, it may be a forgotten multiplayer game after this year.

i don't mind what reasons they might have to push back this release, sony is dissapointing me, almost every great game is being pushed back for "tecnical reasons"... i'm a great fan of the PS but nothing is worse than wait for something that is probably to be pushed back. I hope that the release date of assasin's creed stays that way or i'll get VERY dissapointed, i know it's not sony's fault some things but i'm tired of waiting

To me it's plain and simple. In game chatting/invites/messages in all games online. If I am playing Warhawk, I want to be able to check and see what other friends are on, send them a text message or a voice chat invite and communicate. Then, I want to be able to send invites, to anyone in anygame at anytime.
Oh, and allow me to have more than 50 friends or whatever the pitifully low number is. I have loads of people who want to jump into my Warhawk clan, but I can't even add them as a friend.

ha ok, firstly was disapointed, then if it's for a worldwide release, THANK YOU.
Frankly, folks of USA, can't you wait so we discover and appreciate HOME in the same time (europe) ? You probably know by my comment and Post, that I am a big supporter of Home, so I'm disapointed by the delay, but its perhaps for the better..

I'm not upset. Xbox wins 07 hands down unless MGS4 comes out den it's tied but if MGS4 comes out in 08, mark my word, PS3 will be the best, period!

I don't mind, just get super solid servers, and have a whole bunch of cool features. And if that takes time i'm willing to wait,i mean what's a couple of months compared to the almost half year of a tiny library of games we had to put up with.

I wish I smashed my PlayStation a long time ago. I will never buy another Sony PlayStation again. I should have got a XBox, at least when they say they are going to do something they do it.

Whatever you feed grows. Whatever you starve dies.
Sony continues to feed us delays which I can only imagine is feeding the impatient angry beasts inside all of us that want more from our favorite system.
Meanwhile we're starved of what would should be basic necessities of the system. In game messaging, custom soundtracks, and of course matchmaking and community features; something Home is supposed to bring to the table to combat XBL.
We're dying here Sony and another 7 month delay is not my idea of a good time. True we'll have a much better product come Spring (we better; there'll be no excuses come March/April) but the waiting game is starting to get old. Having to wait anywhere from a week to a month for multi-platform titles is already a sad reality but that's from the aunts and uncles of the industry. When your parents start giving you excuses the sting and disappointment is even worse.
I'm a HUGE, HUGE fan of all things Sony and Playstation and I agree with another blogger here that continuing to defend Sony is becoming a full-time job. We shouldn't have to defend it, its features and abilities should speak for themselves but so far we seem to be getting a fraction of what this box is really capable of.

Oh well. With everything else we're getting it's not all that bad. Give 'em a chance to polish it. If it's really as good and revolutionary as we all hope, then we'll be using it for 5 + years anyways.

Why do I get the feeling that nothing was planned properly before PS3 release? Delays delays delays on consoles, games, on rumble, backward compatibility, on everything. Seriously dodgy work Sony. They have to start investing resources ahead of the curve not 12 months behind it.

this feature is going to become a system seller probably more so than any one game....and it will be free to users....considering the undertaking they are embarking on and the user feedback that said it isn't ready and with having to make it ready not just for gamers but for companies to market their products this is probably one of the most extensive undertaking any developers have ever had to do. think about it....this isn't simply making characters and levels for a game but a virtual world to interact, sell, buy, visit, game, and if done poorly or incorrectly would lead to a huge fallout for sony. IT HAS TO BE DONE RIGHT. or they stand to lose tons of company supports for those looking to advertise and setup shop in this game. this in essense will be the soul of the playstation.....and you want them to just let it fly and develop on the fly......yeah right....you guys would make excellent advisors to sony.

WOuld you rather have crap that breaks down all the time or something that works? Stop complaining about delays when they're for the benefit of a product. ANyway the lack of an open Beta in July was because there was just so much that needed work. the latest update that you've seen photos of already fixed a lot of issues but also brings up new ones so it's not yet ready for a huge influx of people yet.

yeah see. read the above
It sounds like a lot of fans are pissed off (this is like denying a kid his candy on Holloween)
on other matters am I the only one ticked off about the 60 peep limit thing. Personally I think thats not cool. 60 players per sever thats just down right gay.
I'd be lucky if I even get to see any of YOU guys there, 60 peep per server ahh man!
look at the size of that indoor arean! you can fit like a 1,000 peeps up in that place
Good things comes to those who wait.
If you guys cant find me; that means I'm probably in the 'grouper' Theater at Home!

Home although interesting to just wander arround, is really pretty useless, all of you that dont have Beta access and think its the godsend of online apps need a reality check.
Its just a few rooms that you walk, very very slowly, arround in with a few NES era games to play.
I am a Sony FanBoy to the core, but Home is just a useless novelty.
For those complaining about chatting in games like Warhawk, thats what the BlueTooth headset is for! You shouldnt be chattingf with your other buddies (that are not playing) when you are playing tha game anyway.
