Sony Computer Entertainment of Japan recently reported that they will be putting a halt to their PlayStation.com services. The closing stages will begin with a stop to the e-commerce areas in December with the mail news services ending in February of next year.
For those wanting an explanation for the closing, remember that PlayStation.com was originally the home for downloadable content for the PS2. Now with the PlayStation Network, the older service is no longer relevant, since the PlayStation Network is accessible through your PS3 (and soon PC as well).
As for the Japanese PlayStation.com, it will continue to run, as it will serve as Sony’s official source for Japanese news and information.

This is one of three things Sony is shutting down...maybe their trying to put all their resources into the PSN.
