Play.com reduces Rock Band bundle prices

Play.com has taken the first step to offer a slightly less outrageous price for EA’s Rock Band in the UK.

As we reported yesterday, the recommended retail price (RRP) of the game itself will be GBP 49.99 whilst the bundle of three instruments (microphone, drum kit and guitar) will come in at a staggering GBP 129.99.

However, Play.com has begun offering pre-orders of the game for GBP 39.99, in line with most new releases, and the instrument pack for GBP 99.99. This brings the total to about GPB 140. It's still frighteningly close to the price of an Xbox 360, but it's good to see that the retailer hasn't tried offering the set at the extremely high RRP.

Rock Band is due for release on May 23 on Xbox 360, with PlayStation 3, PlayStation 2 and Wii versions to follow later this summer.

Thats outrageous even at that price. You could get nearly 3 games for the price of Rock Band. I wont be getting it, I'm happy enough with Guitar Hero III. And why is the PS3, PS2 ans Wii versions coming out in the Summer? Are EA seeing if they can sell it at that stupid price tag first?

this isnt special, all games are RRP £49.99 but almost all shops sell them for £35 on X360 and £40 on PS3. The equipment value is good though but i bet many other shops will offer value like this when its available and if no one bus it then shops will offer great deals

I buy all my games & blu ray from Play these days. Got GT5p for £17.99, everywhere else its £25 even on the PSN. my copy of GT5p was delayed by 1 day to be dispatched from the play warehouse i got offered £3 off GT4, so getting that for £36.99. i find UK shops liek Game/gamestation etc always sell games for around £10 more. i find it crazy that so many people are willing to pay extra every time. sure maybe i get the game a day after release date, but with being at work, or out of town it doesnt bother me.

my recomendation is shop at a supermarket (although they probably wont have GTA due to its mature content) or online.

    happy gaming

Makes no difference to me anymore maybe the reduced price point would have made a difference but not now EA have sold out to M$ by making it a timed exclusive in Europe........So BLLX to EA

Meh, I am American and I won't get this game... Especially since you need to BUY more DLC to make it worth it.

Damn this is still way overpriced 130£ is 255$ it just might be worth importing from the states since all ps3 games arent region locked
