Resident Evil 5 clothing so real it breathes, says Capcom

Capcom’s Jun Takeuchi has claimed that the clothes worn by the main character in upcoming horror outing Resident Evil 5 will be so detailed that they’ll give the illusion of “breathing.”
Takeuchi-san revealed that the company has striven to inject as much realism into the title as possible, and has thus based protagonist Chris Redfield’s clothing off of real life items, even going so far as to include fibre details.
"The footwear and gloves the main character wears are all based on real items. We contacted the makers of those items to find out all the little details that go into making them, that way players don't have a sense of the game being completely divorced from reality,” boasted Takeuchi.
“And that's how we were able to realistically recreate the proper specs for the items used in the game. When you look at the trailer, you see the main character's clothing and all the fibres that comprise it.”
"We really paid attention to the details. We made it so that the fabric of his shirt actually gives the illusion of breathing like its real-life counterpart; it is also decidedly different from the heavier material that hangs down below it."
Due out on March 13, 2009, Resident Evil 5 takes place ten years following the destruction of Raccoon City (as depicted in Resident Evil 3: Nemesis) and sees the return of series veteran, Chris Redfield, who’s pursuit of the origins of the T-Virus brings him to a remote African village populated by savage locals.
Expect more on the game at the Tokyo Game Show next week.

do I really care about the clothing and weather I can see fibres? Most of the time people will be looking for zombies to shoot.

RE5 will be so good, I have to forget about it and think about all these other games coming out sooner because march of next year is sssssoooooo long from now! I got fiiiive on it. hehehehe really though I did actually put 5 on it.
by the way code of arms is pretty fun and it looks good... oddly enough only while playing, the in game movies suck a s s and the dudes all look a little gay, and sound a little gay. and they cant make dirty 5 oclock shadow at all. all it did was make me want to play cod, but then I got into it. its all about cover shoot cover shoot. and so far thats it, theres no malee action!

Yeah we could really tell that you put so much work in the main character model,too bad we won't even get to see it most of the time since we'll be looking above his shoulder!

how can people say this is RE4 in HD..... so you've played the game?! I do agree that they ditched the "man oh man I only have one herb left and 5 bullets and I havent saved the game in forever!" but wasnt RE4 way fun.
on the topic, you remember seeing Clouds clothes in advent children? that was some good texture. thats what I'm talking about. bring it to games..... scratch that, bring it to good games.

Whats the problem with you people whining about "re5 is just re4 in hd".....hmm, lets recall some things:
- re0 = re1-re2 = re3
-soooo.....I dont see any problem why re4 mechanics can be used in re5.
re4 even received higher review scores than the others. So please stop complaining an wait to enjoy what would be one of the best games when it comes out ;P
