Creators of the fan favorite The Chronicles of Riddick: Escape from Butcher Bay announced late yesterday that their new installment of the franchise would be delayed until 2008. A Sierra representative stated that The Chronicles of Riddick: Assault On Dark Athena (a re-creation of the PC/Xbox version) will be ready to ship in 2008, but no specific details were given at this time.
In May, when the second game was announced, Sierra also announced that Starbreeze Studios will be covering development. Not only were they to hype up the graphic visualizations, but also create a new story line and a multiplayer online mode. These additions should only add to an already stellar playing experience.
The push back to 2008 could be due to Starbreeze’s work on recently released The Darkness, but that is only speculation. Escape from Butchers Bay was a big hit when it was released and we expect nothing less from Assault on Dark Athena.
Keep a watch to PSU for more information on this title.

Delays arent always negative. Production may feel they need to put more time in to make the game better, so it's not that bad of news.

Delays are bad, but I'd rather have delays than a ballpark estimate and get it to the community early. I don't want someone saying Summer 08 and put it out in the spring. I'd rather hear November, January, March and keep up with the progress.
