Additonal Info:
Rock Band, developed by Harmoix, has gone gold. The title comes packed with a guitar, drum kit, and a wired microphone. Individual instruments will not be available for purchase at launch, however Harmonix states that the Rock Band PlayStation 3 guitar can be used with the PS2 edition.
Alex Rigopolous, CEO of Harmonix, states that “Rock Band is a true symbol of Harmonix’s vision, dedication, and passion for music and after two years of development, we are thrilled that Rock Band is finally ready to get in the hands of rock fans everywhere.”
He continued to say that, “We have a small army filling our warehouses with final product. Now, our focus is putting together an amazing selection of downloadable music content for players so players can continue to further customize their Rock Band experience post launch.”
Sadly, EA CEO John Riccitiello said that “We won’t be able to put up enough inventory to meet the demand of this fiscal or calendar year.” That of course doesn't mean that your local store won't have any available.
Rock Band comes with 58 tracks out of the case and new songs are to be released weekly which you can get from the PlayStation Store.

How much will the downloadable songs cost on the PS store?
psn id: gingo... this is agood that its finished but i still think they should have made more to meet demand
i played it at a best buy on saturday. my and my girl were jammin' when a little 5 year old took the drums and ripped through danny california. the dad was flippin' out seeing his pint size kid rocking out. the guitar felt kinda stiff, guess it takes some gettin' used to
sounds so much better than GH
this is great news i just put money down on it today! :D Now to form a band... any takers? lol
i will get this game over gh3 if the downloadable songs are free
Too bad its not Bluetooth.
The fact that it's going to be in short supply at launch dosent bother me. I only want the game and guitar. Maybe later I'll buy it when it's split up so I can get the drums later when the price drops some and the mic.... never. I swear I'll never play a singing game ever... EVER.
I'd expect the songs if they come individually on the store to be like 3 bucks each. If they sell them in packs though I'd say maybe 3 songs for 6 - 8 bucks.
I am wondering after the Tony Hawk game vs Skate and now these two with GH and rock band, I wonder when the next head-to-head comparison games will come out? Which will innovate and spark a new interest in that genre of gaming.
Those songs better be no more than $1 each, preferably 0.99. I'd only consider drums since I suck at GH and I refuse to sing.
Doesnt the instruments have bluetooth any more?!? Last time i check Harmonix was saying that the ps3 would use that! If they changed to USB than i wont buy this game! GH III for me in that case!
@ tom ass
I'll take you up on that offer! I'm good on guitar/bass, can't carry a tune even if I carried it on my back. Can't wait till this game comes out!!! Have GH3, it's good, but I look forward to playing online with other rockers. Please consider. lol....
