After weeks of Internet speculation, Sony Computer Entertainment Europe (SCEE) has officially confirmed plans to restructure the region’s PlayStation Store for the middle of April this year.
As a result of these plans, the company has revealed that there will be no new content updates to the European PlayStation Network until the process is complete.
Back catalogue items will not be affected, however, and users will still be able to download existing content, such as the recently released Gran Turismo 5 Prologue.
Speaking in a statement this afternoon, SCEE commented, “The new design will deliver a hugely improved navigation system, much greater scope for categorisation and a dynamic new user interface.”
UPDATE:
See below for the first shots of the new PAL store:

UPDATE 2:
We've got an image of the US Store too, which is almost identical to the first PAL one above...

Stay tuned.

@Kane - what the heck ar eyou on about? everything is still on the UK store that has been thre since day one...well obviously the things i've downloaded are'nt there because they're on my download list...but other that that everything is there that's been there since the start, you just gotta know where to look...
personally i don't give a damn how it looks as long as we get quality updates...having said that it would be good if you could select multiple things to purchase before movign them to your basket...buying the characters for PAIN was...well...a pain...

Yeah only the stuff you downloaded disapears but I would prefere it tot be there with a tick or something next to it showing that I have downloaded it rather than looking at the downloaded list.
I have read that it will be April 15th and on CVG it says there will be no update for the store for the next 2 weeks. They also say it is a response from millions of users feedback. I think one major complaint was the lack of content compared to US and to Japan for PS1 games, and how both US and EU stores should see simultaneous updates. So lets hope they listened to that most of all.
Being streamed in the browser didn't help, lets hope thats changed.

Sorry, I was unaware of the download list stuff. But yeah, that really sucks that they take them away from their usual place. 'Cos I erase demos and stuff that I don't use, but if i wan't them again, I have to remember which ones I've had before and so on. It's just un-comfy. Hope they change that in the new update.
(btw. I've downloaded Gran Turismo three times now. It doesn't disappear from the original category space. Is it just an exception?)

Looks good. I usually see Sony's way of thinking when it comes to releases. BUT why not release PS1 games? That really blows my mind. People are dying to buy the games, but Sony is only releasing some average games and some games that I didn't even wanna play back then. I'm guessing third party companies aren't letting them put up games? But even that doesn't make sense, they would only profit!

From the Playstation Blog, new post from Posted by Susan Panico // Sr. Director, PlayStation Network:
"This morning, SCEA announced that the PLAYSTATION Store will be revamped with a new look in mid-April. We’ve heard your calls for a more fluid Store interface, and we think you’ll be pleased with the results."
That means that at least American and EU are getting the new store. Most likely all the world is. Woot!

Regardless to some of the comments made on this thread by a few negative people, I think the new store looks great!!
Some people kill me; you ask for a better store, Sony gives us 1, and you still cry about it. They don't HAVE TO give
us anything, but they choose to because they know it will make us happy. Those people are negative about everything
and the world will never be right for them, EVER!!!

Where is HOME? Where is IN GAME XMB? I could care less about the ps store cause i visit it for less than 5 minutes a week just to see what is in there? Fix the things we need first and worry about minor changes (like redesigning the ps store ) for later. How come Sony makes such a big deal over such minor changes? Riddle me that Sony...

Man, that's great. Cant wait. And it looks application based, rather than being run off of a web page, which is what I've been askin for the whole time.
