Sony has unveiled the first concrete details on its upcoming PlayStation Network title, Savage Moon.

Described as a Science Fiction “tower defence” title, Savage Moon first appeared on a German retail website some weeks ago, before promptly being removed. However, Sony has now officially confirmed the title, which is due for release on PSN later this year.

"Savage Moon is a frantic, action-packed tower defense game in a gritty sci-fi setting," commented Sony Computer Entertainment America (SCEA) Producer, Daimion Pinnock.

"You are tasked with protecting mining facilities from ravenous space bugs using some truly fearsome weaponry. And you'll need as much strategy as firepower as you fend off wave after wave.”

According to Pinnock, the game’s stages will be based on a number of living asteroids, known as ‘lmoons’, where the players task is to safe guard the mining facilities there.

Gamers will initially start off with machine-gun towers to defend these facilities against swarms of native creatures looking to neutralize the mining operation, with heavier firepower available to you as you progress. As expected, you’ll need to juggle your funds and defensive power efficiently in order to mount a successful operation, or run the risk of losing the entire facility.

Stay tuned for more information on Savage Moon as it breaks.

I'm not sure I'll be downloading this title, Pixeljunk Monsters was really hard and got boring for me after a while. But if they do release a demo (Which I doubt they will.), I'll test it out.

Hmm Dont know how a Tower defense game will keep you keep coming back and playing it... There are just some of those games that you play once and then get bored of it and dont play it again... Assuming that it does not have any type of multiplayer than thats the case i believe. Other than that the game looks ok but i dont kno if this is a buying game.. mayb a rental :P

tower defence is great, the only time it keeps you comming back for more is if it's harder, because you just wanna beat it.. you can't let the game win
