Sony expects major hardware boost from FFXIII

David Reeves, President of Sony Computer Entertainment Europe (SCEE), has said that the company is expecting a significant rise in the number of PlayStation 3’s sold following the release of Square’s highly anticipated Final Fantasy XIII.
Speaking with VG247, Reeves commented, "I think that just as we got a massive blip up with GTA IV – which was not exclusive – we’ll get exactly the same blip up with Final Fantasy.”
Elsewhere, he also touched briefly on the game’s move to the Xbox 360, pointing out that the title is still a PS3 exclusive in its home country of Japan.
“I know it will look great on PS3 and – it’s up to Microsoft to clarify this – it’s still exclusive in Japan,” he said.
Final Fantasy XIII is due out in both Japan and western regions in 2009; a playable demo of the game will accompany the Japanese Blu-ray release of Final Fantasy: Advent Children Complete.

Imagine the sale spike if it was an exclusive everywhere... And as far as i know it will still be an exclusive in my country as well...

Dave, how about worring where you are and not somewhere else. its find that its going to the 360, but when you say that it piss me off because your not focus over here in the US or even EU. The japan gets everything first by one whole year and they get more. I'm sure that they have people over there to talk for them. You should be tring to say something that will make all of these lil fanboys over here happy. I don't play the FF anymore there to long for me.but for the one who do.

Exactly... It's funny how these cats come on here saying that it doesn't matter if it's on both systems when it DOES. Originally, SE said that FF would "use the full specs of the ps3". Well, if it's identical to the 360 version, it ain't using full sh!t...
You might as well try putting a Hummer engine into a Wrangler...

wrong this will not gve the ps3 a boost anymore now its not a ps3 exclusive only in japan maybe.
@8 yeh but the game will have to be a lowered down version to fit on the 360 and ps3 owners have to wait a year longer then planned for the release so the 360 version will catch up with the ps3.thats just square being a tw@t to gamers its idiots like u who make me sick,if nobody complained nothing would get done or corrected and ur comment is off sub.

In terms of hardware boost of course there is but as #20 stated it wont be a big boost... Yes its going multi but when has FF ever been sh#t? My favourite was 7, 8 and X. I understand that u guys feel 'betrayed' by SE and uz say that its gotta cramp down to fit and adjust to the 360..mayb the 360 version will have multiple discs?
Yer the graphics might be lowered but thats y we have Versus and the 360 dont...Please stop the whinning coz at the end of the day at least we HAVE this game.
And i do agree with you #22 about having ours delayed which is FU*#ing BS by SE and its idiots like you that makes everyday life for others hard since all you do is complain etc.

@24 nah its guys like u who make hard,the whole point is to give your view about a story and u make it hard for everybody when u put them down in ur comments which had nothing to do with this story.why should people feel like they dont wanna complain about something in case losers like u start on them which in this case they every god dam right towhine,complain and cry when square turn there bk on ps3 owners n remember ff fans this game is not gonna be as it can be now its on the 360.its the same with capcom after ps fans made resident evil game what it is is for them 2day,ok dont keep it exclusive for ever but as a favour n goodwill for what ps fans did for capcom they sould have kept the very first resident evil next gen game exclusive for ps3...some people on ere might not mind being screwed over by rich companys but i do,i payed alot of money out buying capcom products n ff products over the years(ps1,ps2 years) and this is what ps fans get. company`s have no duty to be loyal but they have a moral duty n they broke it end of.money aint everything they could of made just as good profit making an amazing game n keeping it ps3 exclusive instead they wanted more, its so unlike the japs aswell.

Squares loyalty ended when it fusioned with Enix (last FF from them was X - one of the best in the series). After that came the carelessly produced FFX-2, countless FF-remakes (why the PS-era wasn't remade until now, is beyond me), the Final Fantasy which changed development teames several times over (Nr. 12) and several vague timed exclusives (FFversus13 - hmm? Star Ocean 4 - huh?). I hope that FF13 can restablish the joy of playing this series.

Why is everyone whining about it going to the 360? Who cares, it's not like it's not launching on the PS3 as well. It's also ridiculous to whine about how it's going to be dummed down because of the 360. Too be honest, both systems are very capable, and the only difference between the two will be the 360 version will have multiple dvd's vs a single blu-ray. Just buy the PS3 version and stop whining. Or don't buy it at all in "protest" and stop whining. If the game boosts sales thats great.

I don't think it will be a "major" hardware seller outside of Japan. Dont get me wrong...it will move hardware in other places, but just not in a major way (yes...because its not exclusive). As far as I am concerned, $E only hurt my fanboy pride....as long as their game still comes to the PS3 I will live.......now Tri-Ace is a developer I am really starting to hate right about now ( Uber SOB's... minus the fact that they made VP...other than that YOU GUYS SUCK MAJOR M$ BALLSACK)
P.S - I would be very careful in requesting a FF7 remake (or any FF remake) right about now.....they might just do it for both the PS3 and the 360. And we all know everyone who is pissing and moaning for a FF7 remake wants it to be an exclusive.

And now everyone's trying to act like they're not a fanboy or something by sayin, "meh, don't care that it goes to 360, or meh, times have changed for the better!!!111"
Even as a multi platform guy, i can understand what kind of a ridiculous situation this is. Not that I cared that much, because I'm looking forward to Versus XIII about 5 times as much, but seriously? Stop trying to convince yourselves that you're not fanboys.
