I agree with Lord Gingo as long as he is still with Sony its all good.

Could be worse.  I think the new PS3 commercial markets itself as a multimedia device and not just game console.

Goo, I am glad he is gone, and I am really glad that Hirai is actually trying to stick up for video games and market this console as a game platform first and media device second. Because I am reasonably sure that 99 percent of you would not have spent 600 bucks or moreon Playstation 3 that was merely a  "media entertainment device" that had no game capbility. Games do and SHOULD come first because it is a PLAYstation not WATCHstation or BLURAYstation.

I have to agree with Kaz on this one.  I've always thought that they were marketing it too much as a Blu-Ray player and needed to market it more towards games and gamers and I'm glad Kaz sees this point.  Shouldn't be an issue though as SCE should market it towards games as intended and leave the Blu-Ray player marketing for Sony Pictures, Disney, FOX, and other studio partners.  I see Disney is starting to include "Can be played on PlayStation 3" notices in one of their commercials.  Other supporting movie studios need to do the same.

Its not just a game console. That saying is so lame. I think he should have stayed and the other guy should have left.

I got to agree with Izumin that the console is not just a game console.  And I don't believe Kaz is doing a bad job neither.  And adding to this, I don't think Ken should be a businessman but he does know hardware.

To all this I will like to add a note for KAZ.  Yes, do the marketing as a video console first.. is important for the market to know you are not leaving the hardwares purpose be a common/second functionality.  But it is really need to show all the extra functionality / possibilities and support you SONY are giving to the console.

I know is a VERY difficult task because not everyone really understand even what really HD is.  Many people have ideas but they dont really see it and others justify they dont care.  For example people dont understand why buy a $3000 tv 1080p vs a $1200 tv 1080p, and/or should it be plasma/lcd/dlp/etc...

Now that can be a complete discussion itself (HD).  To that you add BluRay, HD-DVD, why not DVD.  Or it can be a computer running Linux... what is Linux? how install it / use it / support? etc...  is not easy for lots of people to just get them educate it in a short term.

But KAZ, I believe is up to you guys figure out and expose yourself as having the best deal out there.  Because you have it, and you know it!  Because Microsoft promotes themself as being the BEST even they play dirty, they have survived this long.  MS needs to get slap!  And learn all they are doing wrong.  And for the record this is not a anti-MS message.  I believe they have done many good things...

It's not just a game console. That's right. But that's what I want it for. And I want Sony to put my gaming first in priority.

Would anyone believe me if I predicted Sony pulls the plug on any future Cell Development? I dont mean the sale of the factory (we all know they have just done that already) - I mean walking away from all Cell R&D obligations. I'd be branded crazy for saying such a thing right? Tell me in 5 days time....
