The Chinese version of Engadget has released a screenshot detailing the character selection screen for Namco’s Bandai’s upcoming Soul Calibur IV.

From what we can gather there are 27 selectable characters, however it looks as though there is room for others to be added.

With the rumors suggesting that God of War protagonist Kratos will grace the PlayStation 3 iteration of the highly anticipated fighter, it would make sense that the character screen would contain a few empty spaces to be filled, though nothing has been confirmed as of yet.

As new screenshots and information surface about Soul Calibur IV, we'll be sure to keep you up to date.

I prefer Tekken alot more than SC, I bought SC2 but there weren't enough characters I liked (about 3) and Ithink the characters from Tekken have better personalities that suit their move set

I played soul calibur with my roommate buddies for years, I think it looks good. That kratos news is also interesting, can't wait to try him out.

I hope that the PS3 getting an extra Character compared to the 360 is true. I would love to play as that bad a#%  Kratos.

I hope the awesome create a character mode is even more indepth this time around.

That's the real make or break for me.

I dont officially need a character when I can damn near make them myself.

@ Fars eye:  It would make little sense to put an FPS character in there, unless he didn't come with weapons and had to fight melee-style.  Sorry about the name space but apparenly you can't put that word here.

Hey PSU guys, why don't you consider putting together a list of banned words we cant use.  I had to search my post 4 times before I figured out ar-se was in his name.
