Not content with hopping on the PSP bandwagon with confirmation of a handheld version of Tekken 6 for release this fall, Namco Bandai has revealed plans to bring another of its flagship beat ‘em ups to Sony’s trusty slab, this time coming in the form of Soul Calibur: Broken Destiny.
According to reports, Broken Destiny will utilize last year’s Soul Calibur IV as a template for much of it’s gameplay mechanics, and looks set to over 20 playable characters. It should be noted that both Yoda and Darth Vader will not be featured in this portable outing, though at least one new character will show up in their place.
Character customisation looks set to return, with a new single player mode also on the cards, apparently in an effort to introduce newcomers to the series via 80+ training missions. Online play has yet to be confirmed, though gamers will be able to duke it out in local wireless matches.
Soul Calibur: Broken Destiny is scheduled for release this summer.
