Square cuts back on E3 plans due to Swine Flu

It has been confirmed today that Square Enix is the latest Japanese publisher to cut back on its E3 plans due to the outbreak of Swine Flu, telling Gamesindustry.biz that it will only send out a selected few of its team to the Los Angeles-based event.

“A limited number of executives/employees from Square Enix’s headquarters in Japan will be attending E3 this year, given the recent worldwide spread of H1N1 flu,” the firm said in a statement.

This puts Swine Flu to blame for three publishers trimming down their E3 plans, with Capcom and Koei both following similar measures. It's likely that we'll hear more news on the topic within in the next few days.

THis might either be a good or bad move for the company. Perhaps average.

Well the only thing SE mostly show is trailers behind closed doors at these events. So I don't think much will be cut on what they will show.

Really? Because of the swine flu? Do they even use the thing sitting inside their skulls? They do realize that it is no more dangerous then the regular flu right, and has been around for decades. Silly liberal media for causing panic.

They are cutting back on representatives/personnel, but what about games?  are they showcasing less games than orignally planned?

Not many people got the swine flu from what it showed on the news.  like maybe a thousand or so and that is throughout mexico and North America, it's very little.   I haven't heard much about it for like almost a month.  This is a sore excuse on SE's part.   The Swine Flu right now is extremely mellow and almost non existent.   Give it to SE for making stupid excuses and executing stupid decisions.  They probably lied about cutting people back because of the Swine flu.  <----that probably isn't the real reason, at least they could be truthful but again all lies on SE again.  This company is really starting to become just a developer of lie's left and right.

I didn't really trust them after the first 3 lies and after this lie ( which I firmly believe is not why they are cutting back) I don't trust SE anymore.   It's done.

The Japanese are really terrified of the Swine Flu. I saw on the news a couple nights ago that they closed down around 4400 schools. Guess it is spreading fast there too.

H1N1 havent heard too much about that in a while. Odd. I guess they are sending in the B squad. They should just show up in big bubbles suits that shields them from viruses. Problems solved.

swine flu is done with there are still cases but if you want to talk about swine flu they shoukd have did this for past flu seasons the swine flu was hyped up due to the lack of news for news reporter becasue the few that suffered form swine flu is only a fraction to the people that suffered form it this year
