Popular Internet blogger and renowned industry insider, “Surfer Girl”, has commented in her blog that Japanese software giants Square-Enix will be remaking classic titles for PlayStation Network.
News comes following earlier reports originating from US publication Electronic Gaming Monthly, which claimed that a Japanese publisher would be releasing classic remakes for the online service. The name of the alleged company was not revealed.
However, writing in her blog in response to a fellow poster, Surfer Girl stated that the company in question is in fact Final Fantasy developer, "Square Enix". Still, despite Surfer Girl’s reputation as a reliable industry insider, we advise our readers to treat this as a rumour for the time being.
Stay tuned for more information as it becomes available.

If this is true, i guess it would be better that they remake them so that it is better optimized for PSN and possibly any extra online features.

I just wish the news were about Capcom remaking Resident Evils but Parasite Eve & Parasite Eve 2 becomes a possibility

Even greater possibilities if this was to become a reality.
I hope she ("Surfer Girl") washes her hands thoroughly after "writing in her bog in response to a fellow poster" LOL!!

So fingers crossed for final fantasy I - IX on PSN? doubtful but i can delude myself...oh and @SHADOWFORCE - I've got a US PSN account as a secondary to my UK but you can't buy the games from it unless the card you use has an American Billing address...hopefully when the PSN cards are realeased in the US we'll be able to import them and download things that way...been waiting over a month for PAIN! now...

I hope its true, I want to play crono trigger with better graphics. Also a remake of FFVII would be an awesome thing :D. Considering that the games will be available for PSN i dont think they will cost a lot, so considering that, if they remake a game it will not be a SUPER UPGRADE; I hope FFVII to be an exception, because I want the FFVII remake to be SUPERB .

It's not true.
Why would Sqaure Enix waste the valuable time and resources it's using to make huge epic games to remake old game for the PSN? HeII they could be making ORIGINAL games rather than something as stupid as this. God I wish these rumor mongers would atleast spread a roumor with a inkling of truth to them.
But atleast PSU said "Treat this as a rumor" the problem is Most PSU readers seem to think that means "OMFG THIS IS S TRUE SPREAD IT ALL OVER THE PLACE!!"
