Japan has certainly gone Street Fighter crazy. Even with the title being available in arcades for months, Japanese gamers have still gone out on day one of the console release and bought an incredible amount of copies of the game. The PlayStation 3 accounted for 58,000 of these sales, which marks SFIV as the best selling fighting game on the console thus far. Street Fighter IV barely surpassed Soul Calibur IV by the slim margin of 1,000 units.
If you’re wondering how this compares to Japanese sales across both consoles, Soul Calibur IV still reigns supreme at 92,000 while Virtua Fighter 5 brings up the back end with 42,000.
