Strong debut for PS3 DMC 4 in Japan

Yesterday saw the Japanese launch of Capcom’s highly anticipated Devil May Cry 4 for PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360, with both versions of the game witnessing a 60 per cent sell through rate.

However, the PS3 version ultimately triumphed over its Xbox 360 counterpart, selling 140,000 units in its first 24 hours on sale. The 360 release managed 30,000 units sold, which is perhaps unsurprising given the installed base of both machines in the region.

Devil May Cry 4 is scheduled for release in North America on February 5. The game hits European shelves on February 8, where reportedly the PS3 version will cost 10 more pounds than the 360 counterpart.

Look out for our review in the coming weeks.

I thought the demo sucked. Sure the graphics looked better than the PS2 versions of the games but it felt too much like a hack and slash, button mashing arcade title for me. Don't waste your money, rent it.

psn id: gingo... @writer "Mike Harradence" it was the UK stores that are going to make the game 10 pounds dearer for ps3 version not US, all american stores sell the game the same price but UK dont because our shops are run by a bunch of sacks

thats good news but why is it going to be $10 cheaper on the 360? Is mr gates making up the difference out of his own pocket?

It's 10 bucks cheaper, because it's simply can't be as good as it can on PS3 :3

But seriously... the demo was boring...

when this baby hits the us and europe, sales figures are going to go sky high, then will see if dmc is just a japan based game, they should make the dmc4 bundle in europe to boost ps3 sales if they want to get near to the 11million mark!

Well duh besides the Wii the PS3 is popular there as well and DMC4 has always been a big game in JP. I'm surprised that many copies were even sold for its 360 counterpart, no hate intended there just an analysis.

I am anxious to see how things will turn out in the other regions. Well this is encouraging for the PS3, since games might be prefered on it than on the 360.
