We already know that several Take-Two games have fallen victim to delays, including BioShock 2. During an earnings call today, Chairman Strauss Zelnick said the company will release four top-tier games in the first half of 2010. The company’s earnings are also drastically lower than last year at this time, largely owing to a little game called Grand Theft Auto IV.
Zelnick said that BioShock 2, Mafia II, Max Payne 3, and Red Dead Redemption will ship sometime between February and June next year.
"We remain focused on our core strategy of delivering high quality interactive entertainment experiences and exceptional value through our catalog of proven titles. While the economy and retail environment continue to be challenging, we are optimistic that ‘must have’ triple-A and value products will be key drivers this holiday season. That said, we are maintaining a prudent approach to our business outlook for the remainder of this year and as we head into fiscal 2010. We will continue to invest our resources in initiatives that will enhance our industry-leading creativity and innovation," said Zelnick.
Meanwhile, the company reported earnings of $138.6 million in Q3. That’s down significantly from last year at this time when the company reported revenue of $433.8 million. Keep in mind, Grand Theft Auto IV significantly helped sales last year at this time.
Speaking of Grand Theft Auto, don’t expect any announcement for GTA V anytime soon, or even an announcement of an announcement for the sequel. Zelnick says the company has no intentions of talking about anything related to GTA V anytime soon.
