Tecmo has soldered together a fancy teaser trailer for Undead Knights, a new PlayStation Portable action-adventure due out in Japan next year.

The trailer doesn't give a whole lot away, but we've done some digging and come up with a few gameplay details. Undead Knights is essentially what might happen if the gore-laden Dead Head Fred got Nintendo's Pikmin pregnant. You step into the blackened steel boots of a cursed knight endowed with the ability to resurrect vanquished foes to do his bidding.

Producer Kohei Shibata has told Gamespy that the proportion of action to strategy will probably be something like 80-20, which sounds just dandy to us. Shibata's pretty keen to draw a broad audience, so there will only be one main attack button to avoid scaring off action game agnostics.

Expect cooperative and versus multiplayer, different zombie types such as grenadiers and archers and full-on siege warfare in the finished article. Tecmo, needless to say, have a pretty solid action gaming pedigree, so this could be worth looking out for.

A western release has yet to be confirmed.
