Top 10 Games to revive for the PlayStation 3

The game industry seems to be turning to remakes of old classics such as Alone in the Dark and Bionic Commando or relying on producing blockbuster sequels like Resident Evil 5 and Killzone 2 in order to push this generation forward. PSU has decided to put together a list of archived titles, remembered and forgotten, that should be brought back from the dead, to live again on the PlayStation console. This is a list of titles that once graced our beloved platforms with unique ideas, interesting characters, and just all around fun gameplay. Whether for a new set of paint, updated audio, or purely the sake of reliving the franchise, here are the Top 10 Games to revive on the PlayStation 3.
#10. Mark of Kri
Originally Developed by SCE Studios San Diego, Mark of the Kri mixed a unique storyline with great characters and an innovative combat system. It was almost like a cartoony version of God of War. The series was last seen when the sequel Rise of the Kasai, developed by BottleRocket Entertainment (responsible for upcoming Splatterhouse title), was released in 2005.
#9. Ehrgeiz: God Bless the Ring
This is definitely an oldie. Developed by Dream Factory (Tomba and The Bouncer) and published by Squaresoft, Ehrgeiz was a guilty pleasure on the original PlayStation. The game showcased a total of 16 characters, including famous faces as Cloud Strife, Tifa, and Sephiroth from Final Fantasy VII. The title also featured endurance modes as well as an "RPG" mode where players would select a character to fight through randomly generated dungeons. Overall the game was average, but how many of you would buy the game no matter what just to brawl with Cloud and Sephiroth?
#8. Fear Effect
Developed by Kronos Digital Entertainment Inc., the Fear Effect series was a fast paced action adventure game using anime inspired graphics and hot lesbian ladies to hook the player into the experience. Sadly the series never made it to the PlayStation 2, as Fear Effect Inferno was canceled. However, there are rumors now that Eidos may be looking to revive the series once more on the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360.
#7. Dino Crisis
From the creators of Resident Evil, this survival horror title dropped players on a remote island to acquire a missing scientist, only to be hunted down and devoured by dinosaurs. The game featured a large selection of weapons and a variety of dinosaurs ranging from the Tyrannosaurus to the Deinonychus (aka: Super Raptor). If remade, we'd like to see the game running on the Resident Evil 5 engine, allowing for spectacular graphics, animations, and action sequences. With the game running on PlayStation 3 hardware, it would be exciting to see Capcom use 7.1 HD surround sound to intensify the feeling of being stalked by veracious dinosaurs.
#6. Legacy of Kain
First developed by Silicon Knights, but then continued by Crystal Dynamics, the Legacy of Kain series were some of the greatest vampire stories ever told in video-games. Titles in the series included: Blood Omen: Legacy of Kain, Legacy of Kain: Soul Reaver, Soul Reaver 2, Blood Omen 2, and then finally, Legacy of Kain: Defiance, all of which appeared on PlayStation platforms. After the completion of Defiance however, Legacy of Kain's team leader, Amy Hennig left the studio, and since her departure Crystal Dynamics has made no update concerning the series.
#5. Intelligence Qube
Now this may be just a personal favorite, but I would love to see this title re-released or remade for the PlayStation Network. Developed by Sony Computer Entertainment, Intelligence Qube put your reaction speed and IQ to the test, running players through hundreds of different mind wrenching puzzles, or letting them create their own puzzles. Also players could go head to head and battle it out - a feature that would be great, especially now that we have online.

The only games I've played up their was Fear Effect ( awesome lesbians ) and Jet Moto! It would be fantastic if they remake them games for thePlaystation 3!!

Absolutely would love to see FEAR EFFECT on the PS3. I remember both Fear Effect and Fear Effect Retro Helix were 4 disc games on the PS1. Sick characters, twisted story and fun gameplay. God, I had forgotten about those excellent classics.
FEAR EFFECT ON THE PS3 - new game of re-release the old games on the PS Store. Please.
Also would love to see Legacy of Kain - Soul Reaver.

Haha, I knew before reading this what the #1 would be! Lets just hope Square can get it out before the end of the PS3's lifespan. I wouldn't count on it anytime soon with as many projects as they have going on right now.
And yeah I'd definately agree with Dark Cloud too, that was an amazing game.

A Legacy of Kain Soul Reaver remake would be epic.Or they should at least release the psone game for download even blood omen.If sony actually do PS2 titles for download at least make Dark cloud downloadable its rare a preowned dark cloud is impossible WTH GAME/gamestop

I'm gonna have to agree with the parasite eve! That game was i mean still is awesome. When I first got my ps3 I played Metal Gear 2 and Parasite Eve on it!

Yeah, well, that's what they did with FFVIII for a PS2 tech demo so I wouldn't dwell on thoughts of a FFVII remake too much if I were you...

Expect Final Fantasy VII remake on PS3 before it's all over with. Square Enix already said it themselves, you can "expect something spontaneous" once the team who did the original game is freed up. The original team is working on FFXIII/Versus XIII, so once that is completed, we can expect to hear more about the FFVIII remake.
It's only logical. Square Enix knows they would be raking in the $$$$$$ with this title, and it would probably sell near 10 million copies, if not more.
I'm expecting it, but it's a looong ways off, so I'm not going to be thinking about it for another year at least.

Great article. Makes me seriously wonder where all the original PS3 games are? Sure, I'm excited for LittleBigPlanet, Killzone, Valkyrie Chronicles, etc., but where are the droves of other great titles that we came to expect from the PlayStation brand? A sequel to Dark Cloud is a great example: where is it???

I rented ehrgiez a long time ago, but the disc was scratched =|
Fear Effect sounds yummy tho! Also If they ran Vice City on the gta4 engine, I'd be one happy man. Don't even need to change anything about the city either, just make it prettier and maybe add some more random stuff said by NPCs.
Am I the only person who didn't like GTA4?

i'm surprised not to see Chrono Trigger on this list, in my opinion the best RPG that i have ever played, dont flame me yet, i haven't played FF7 and am planning on it. and FF8 didn't make an appearance either. thats just my opinion anyways.

Only Dino Crisis for me from that list also there are sony many games i would love on Ps3 its not funny just imagine what some of the ones from ps1 would do:)

There sadly is a very very slim chance of another Baldurs Gate or Champions of Norrath seeing as the studio that made them disbanded, hence why they are more expensive used games but I can still dream!

yes! one of my favorite ps1 games Legacy of Kain: soul reaver. And Twisted metal is awesome..and did infact have some crazy, but kick a** characters

Are u kidding me a cant beleive Shadow Of The Colosis isn't on the list. I truly think this is one of the best games of all time. Between both visually and artisticly. And with the ps3's processing power and visual leaps #2 would be incredable. An artistic masterpeice would fall short with the quality the game could reach. Hopefully this remake will happen and the shadows can be taken for another incredable journey again.

well the reason i think shadow of the colossus is not on the list is, well, because it isnt "dead". let me quote from the first paragraph : "PSU has decided to put together a list of archived titles, remembered and forgotten, that should be brought back from the dead" .... well i think SotC is anything but forgotten. That is why im really happy Dino Crisis got on the list, it is an instant ps1 classic and i did unfortunatly forget about it. It would be amazing to see a sequel on the ps3. But unfortunatly Dino Crisis 3 got onto the Xbox and not ps2 (and good riddance cause it was horrible!) But they should atleast remake Dino Crisis 2 for ps3. It is still my all time #1 ps1 game by far.

wow im really surprised no ones said xenogears yet, but that a new front mission, vagrant story, and a remake of FF tactics would be on point, (i know they brought it back on the psp, but im not much for hand helds) tenchu, pitball, blody roar, i dunno i got a big list oh and finally a new legend of mana.

Aside from Final Fantasy VII, the title I would most like to see be remade is probably one most of you don't remember or never played. It was for the NES and it was one of the funnest rpgs I have ever played. That game is Crystalis. Anyone else here ever play this game? I know they will never do it, but it would make an excellent next gen game if they did it right.

6toes ps3 life span will be for at least the next ten years so they got plenty of time. hopefullly since sony arent working on a ps4 theyve been working on a psp 2. as the lack of decent titles is lacking on the system and there not many game currently being developed for psp so could this mean well hear about a psp 2 at e3 i hope so. and as elder scrolls travels been cancelled?
