Treyarch confident they have "best shooter" this Xmas

Treyarch has boldly claimed that the studio has the best shooter lined up this Christmas in the form of Call of Duty: World at War.

“There’s a lot of competition this year, but I feel very strongly we have the best shooter this Christmas,” said Senior Producer, Noah Heller. “There is a lot of people new to the Call of Duty franchise following COD4, and they won’t be disappointed.”

Heller wasn’t about to forget about the competition, though, labelling upcoming shooters Gears of War 2, Resistance 2 and Far Cry 2 as “great games,” though believes consumers will ultimately get behind Call of Duty this holiday season.

“I’m looking forward to Gears of War, Far Cry and Resistance 2, and I’m sure they will be great games, but I am confident the consumer will come back to Call of Duty,” he said.

He also detailed the company’s thought process behind creating a follow up to last year’s excellent Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare.

"Along with the ‘why are you returning to WWII?’ questions, we’ve been asked ‘how are you possibly going to follow up COD4?’ And the answer to that question was not to focus on the previous game, but to make our own game on our own merits and our own strengths, and show people what we can do.”

Call of Duty: World at War is due out on November 14.
