The latest issue of the Gameinformer has got yet another huge exclusive first-look, and this time it is Resistance 2, made by the brilliant Insomniac Games who have already brought Resistance: Fall of Man and Ratchet & Clank: Tools of Destruction to PlayStation 3.
The first ever Resistance 2 preview revealed that the game will feature one campaign focused on Nathan Hale in the USA, which will be a single player mode. Secondly, the game will have a separate story campaign which will support two players offline and up to eight players online!

But that isn't just it...the game will support a 60 (yes, sixty) player online mode. It will have its own dedicated game community, with full stat tracking on myresistance.net. The online mode will feature classes such as heavy weaponry, special ops and medic. The focus for the online mode will be squad vs. squad and not fast and furious gameplay. Of course the game will also feature some new vehicles including the Chameleon, which is a stalker with the possibility of total cloaking.
The game has pushed the capabilities of the PlayStation 3 even further. More enemies are said to be on the screen, and of course the game will feature a better AI and better lighting and shaders. Insomniac is giving a lot more attention to the artificial intelligence compared to last time with Resistance: Fall of Man. The textures will also be a lot better for an amazing look from far away and from close distance.
If you want to see the screenshots, buy the next GameInformer, or wait till the screenshots are released online. We'll bring you the latest news and media and soon as we have it. Resistance 2 will be released in fall 2008.
UPDATE:
- -The game will feature the standard single-player campaign as well as an eight-player online co-op campaign that's objective-based. Two people can still work together locally.
- -Ready to beat each other senseless online? Resistance 2 will feature 60-player matches set in the United States
- -Sorry, Rachel; the campaign will pick up from Fall of Man's epilogue and stick solely with Nathan Hale as he copes with getting shot down in Iceland, escaping to the states and joining the "Sentinels" program.
- -There will be classes. Characters will start out from one of three basic templates -- a "tank-style" soldier rocking a chain gun, a "Special Ops class" that seems like a sniper or a medic whose "Medicator" gun will hurt enemies and heal allies -- and go from there.
- -When you and a team of friends head into battle, there will not be a selectable difficulty. Insomniac will be auto-scaling the challenge to the skill of you and your squad. When you jump into a random online match, you'll be teamed with partners and opponents who are around your personal level.
- -"Personal" is going to be a big word in Resistance 2. The game will have dedicated servers for gaming, community and stats as well as gamer profile pages on myresistance.net. In-game, the setup will be completely open when it comes to clans and parties -- the era of invites has come to a close.
- -Vehicles are in the game, but Insomniac wouldn't let on about their role.
- -The game's set in the '50s, but expect a more modern U.S. landscape as well as a focus on the aerial side of the Chimeran attack.
- -The game's AI has been overhauled -- they have improved routines and detachable armor pieces -- and boss battles will be more important than ever.

wow I really hope Insomniac makes a lot of money for this, they seem to be bending over backwards for us PS3 owners, and other developers such as Naughty Dog, Uncharted isnt selling as good as I hoped, the game is so beautiful! but anyway, 60 players online?!?! take that! weak 360 can never handle even half of that! I always wondered why.... it usually has 8 or 16 players... look at gears,
only 8 players, but anyway, Resistance is gonna rock 2008 into the sky!
oh and I am an owner of all nex-gen consoles, even Wii, im not a fanboy, though it may seem so, I just really love my PS3 -

With Resistance 2 everyone is going to start taking the PS3 more seriously. And this online setup is revolutionary for a console, and many games are going to try and replicate this for years to come.

u know something that will be awesome!!!? more variety in enemies my opinion(i love resistance) but in the campaign the hybrids were the same but with different clothing...i wish they could make a much more variety in enemies that would be awesome......ER! and more weapons i've seen the pictures and the hybrids have the same bullseye weapon that on the first.....please don't be like halo that all the good weapons remained in the game...its ok to put 1 or 2 (or the same but different bullets or design)but putting more in addition to the online its gonna be like perfect 10/10 5/5 40/40 100%!!!!
