Uncharted 2 in development for early 2009?

We know, we know, there have been a fair few unsubstantiated rumours on these hallowed pages of late, but this one seems likelier than most.

According to Play3-Live (and SixthAxis, if you want corroborating evidence), Naughty Dog is at work on a sequel to Uncharted: Drake's Fortune, the celebrated PlayStation 3 action spectacular. Apparently you can expect an official reveal in an upcoming issue of PSM3.

Uncharted set a new benchmark in visual fidelity and mechanical polish back in 2007, and deservedly sold a million units in the first ten weeks of sale. Not long after its release, Naughty Dog co-president Evan Wells stated that the game had been developed as part of a franchise, fomenting speculation that a sequel was underway.

Play3-Live reckons Uncharted 2 could see light early next year. Guess we'll have to hold out a little longer for Jak and Daxter PS3.

    i hope this doesn't put jak 4 on hold too long. i don't know about naughty dogs capability, but i hope they can develop 2 projects along side each other.

    Misleading title, the usual types that don't read into things further will think it's due for RELEASE early 09.

    @6 - ...that's the point. It could very well be due for release in early 09 --> "Play3-Live reckons Uncharted 2 could see light early next year."

    Stuff J&D! I'd kill for a new Uncharted! I so hope this is true. My favourite game of all time (and what an unlikely candidate it really was).

    i was playing uncharted the other day(after playing MGS4 for such a long time) and it still looks awsome but graphicly you can already see its aging when compared to MGS4-unfair i know but its still aging none the less,but it still looks beautiful. also disregarding facial animation, uncharted has the BEST facial animation rivaling if not beating that of MGS4(BOLD CLAIM, i know) i cant wait to see what or how naughty dog will improve Nate's adventure this time round.

    No doubt Naughty Dog is working on Uncharted 2, but I doubt it will release early next year. Maybe Fal of 2009.

    Uncharted was AWESOME. Hopefully they can repeat what made the original so great...good gameplay but it was the story telling that made the game so sweet. Beat it 3 times. haven't replayed a game in full since Super Mario Bros (SNES)

    I really, really liked this game, The graphis are great the story telling is great, Its a very polished game and a must have on PS3, I just hope No. 2 is just as good as well as a bit longer.

    Anyone else think that Nate looks like the main character from Stargate Atlantis....

    Anyway, I agree with tadpole, why does every damn tropical island based game have to have damn zombies..  I'm happy with mercenaries!

    Excellent. To see Uncharted keep growing is great, and to know that their giving this series more life is relaxing, for it is an epic game. Also, its intriging to see what they will do with Jak, maybe something on the level of Ratchet & Clank.
