Sony has indicated that the long awaited Home v1.0 will be released on PlayStation Network tomorrow.
Unfortunately, v1.0 is currently only available to beta testers, with news of its release leaked via a message distributed by Sony to those currently participating in the on-going beta.
"1.0 will arrive in the closed beta this Thursday the 20th and will entail a downtime starting in the morning. On Friday we will send out our first batch of invitations to new testers to help load-test 1.0 and the new servers that are coming online in the next week or so. We have two further batches of invitations scheduled for the following week and overall we'll be inviting a huge number of people into the closed beta in SCEE territories."
Sony further added: "Open Beta will be here when it's here," though we're sure a lot of you are finding the wait frustrating to say the least, and quite frankly, we don't blame you.
We'll continue to keep you updated.

Me personally, I've given up, I understand Sony wants to get it right, but that's the point of updates, put something operational on the table, and fiddle with it along the way, we've been waiting long enough for this, this feature alone if marketed correctly could have been another selling point for the holiday season; imagine Home coupled with Little Big Planet in a marketing scheme. Come on Sony get on the ball.

We already knew it was coming out the same time as the NXE on 360, the only thing was when they oiginally made the statement they said V1.0 open beta. Then they came back and said oh it's open but only to the testers. I personally could care less I just want to be able to see my friends online and join directly into their game without hassle, my freebies from sponsors, and virtual E3. The rest of home I could care less about.

Sony really has to learn how to stfu about things like this until they actually have a release date in order. They had everyone excited about this last year. Here we are, 20 months later and the gaming public has no idea of when it will actually be available. To make it worse, MS announces their avatar service and within a year it is ready to use.
I'll be interested to know if it does actually come out tomorrow. I don't expect HOME to be available to the public this year. The end of the year will arrive and Sony will announce that it is delayed until Summer of 09. They'll send out more beta invites and maybe by the Spring we'll see an open beta. It's getting a little beyond ridiculous.
Oh, and spare me the "getting it right" comments. I know I know, but I'm tired of hearing about something I can't use. Just shut up about it until it's ready, ok Sony?! Thanks, bye bye then.

Personally I dont give a F&^k about home anymore, the wait has been to long and the shine has came and left this. I dont really care if this gets trashed or comes out. I wont even download this unless Sony makes me download it on an update or something like that. I was on the bandwagon for awhile but the delays kept comming. So F&*#k home and they could keep delaying for all I care.

The title for this kills me..
"Unconfirmed: Home v1.0 to release tomorrow"
"Sony has indicated that the long awaited Home v1.0 will be released on PlayStation Network tomorrow."
It's "unconfirmed", but Sony has "indicated" it... hmm..
Confusin.

@14
You do realize this isn't an announcement from sony. Just because people get hyped off of rumors and leaked reports doesn't mean that they are doing anything wrong.
Don't place your hopes on faulty information and you wond get dissapointed. And please, no attempts at future telling without a crystal ball. You'll just end up sounding like an idiot if you are wrong. Chances are we will see open home beta by end of year. Most likely december, a week after the issues have been resoved because of the tying of the wallet to home.
I highly doubt they would go through that stepp if they weren't ready soon.

@22, you do know that an open beta has been promised for the end of this year right? This on the heels of a moved to summer 08, on the heels of moved to winter 08, on the heels of will be available late 07. I take this "unconfirmed" report by some random forum poster with the same grain of salt that I take an official Sony comment on HOME. They hold about as much water as some random internet guy making stuff up. Sony needs to adopt the Nintendo/MS approach about not counting chickens before they're hatched.
FWIW, I'm a huge PS3 supporter, I am frankly tired of hearing Sony spout off on empty promises...especially on the vaporware that is HOME.

So many hypocrites here. When Home launches, I'm sure you all are going to be "OMG I love HOME!" "HOME is so cool!". Get your s**t straight. Sony is giving you this for free. If they were to make you pay for the service, then you could complain, but because it is free, you got no f****ng reason to do so. Shut up and wait like everyone else.

@30, i already had a wife, but i really DO have a kid now.
Im curious why this is even posted as news. Assuming its true, this is only for the beta testers, and they hardly need to hear from PSU that v1.0 is coming out.
No news is better than sloppy reporting.

most of you do realise that M$ is a SOFTWARE company and Sony is a HARDWARE company. it seems pretty obvious to me that M$ WILL ALWAYS get software stuff out quicker than Sony can, even if they only anounced their avatar service a year ago and Sony 2 years ago.
my advice for all complainers is to CLIMB INTO AN ICEBOX AND SHUT THE DOOR. chill out, it'll be here soon!!!!

Ok to be honest I agree with those that are saying that Sony has already been scratching our heads too hard since the preview in 07. I just want to say to sony that I appreciate with your patience of being fixed on a major project, but your going hard on yourself. 360 has already came up with the backboard and just happend in 08. Your working too hard, just give us a beta at the playstation store, create a rating room to rate your AMAZING project so that way it can be improved, nothing hard about that . Oh and those who want to add me on psn its RedBaronNYC, hope to hear good news from this, as well as the games cuz 360 is a huge photocopier and scans alot about the ps triple

Well, I am one of the beta testers and it is a cool and novel idea, but really, how practical is it? I really can't get into details about it, as I don't want to break the EULA and get kicked out, but so far, it is cool, but is it going to be this big thing that is being hyped? That I am not so sure of, but we shall see.

i'd say at most the launch of open beta for Home is 2 weeks away. Less if the load test on Friday night goes well. Definitely don't want a LBP server problem that still continues. I'm really excited at the new features. For most of you guys it will be worth the wait I think. I'll be checking it out tomorrow night.

I agree with @32, 33, 34, The service it's free, why the ppl doesn't understand this?
And just think about it, if Sony release a glitchy HOME everyone would blame Sony because they released a glitchy program called HOME, so please be patient the final product will be amazing a bug free HOME (well not free at all)
