In a refreshing change for movie games, the videogame adaptation of Zack Synder's Watchmen will be delivered as a duo of downloadable games rather than a standard disc release, according to the lastest reports from Variety.
"We don’t want a low-quality console game that will get lost at retail," said WBIE senior VP of production and development Samantha Ryan. "A downloadable game allows us to deliver the experience that fans expect."
The releases will take place over a logical time frame; the first episode is set to debut alongside the film's release in March, while the latter episode will launch parallel to the movie's release on DVD and Blu-ray. More episodes will be considered if the initial two are successful.
Danish developer Deadline Games is handling the downloadable project, which is a litmus test of sorts for the downloadable movie game model as a whole.
The first installment of Watchmen is set to launch on PSN, XBLA and PC on March 9, 2009.

well i dont really care but i guess its good for the devs considering they wont be wasting money printing the game on expensive discs that are never going to get bought anyway
Not cool that a dev thinks their game would be "low-quality" in a hard copy =/
Feel free to correct me if im wrong but what is the point in this post?

Does this really warrent a place on the main page?
Eric post once you have some real news.
If I may ask Steve, how is this not news? It's a game announcement that includes several details about said game (release date, format). Would you rather I not report it?
I think what they mean is to rush the full product they want to do before the movie's release would hurt the quality. if it's a smaller downloadable game they'll have time to work on the game itself and then worry about length later with episodic content.
of course it remains to be seen if the game will be quality but that's no different from any other game.
Another PSN game that i never heard by the forgien devs meant to be working on, i cjheck this game through once its near release date.
I just need to learn more about this game, but that's only beause it's the only developer I've heard of except IOI (Hitman guys) that are danish :) As of now I don't even know a thing about the game or the movie. So thanks for reporting this Eric :D
What kind of game is this going to be if they're releasing it on XBL? What about MS's file size limit? Isn't it like 160 MB or something? That doesn't make for a very large game...

Are they admitting that the game sucks? Wow, this is a first.
all you people should learn to read before jumping the hate wagon. They are saying, movie based games normally suck because they have to be rush to release alongside; so they opted to release it as a PSN game that way the game will be shorter (for obvious reasons) and thus they will actually have time to make it a good game for that price.
i.e. they will release a shorter, but good and cheaper game on the PSN rather than rushing to release a game alongside the movie and because of the rush the game would end up bad and more expensive.
