crap price cut didnt help last time....200 dollar arcade system is good but not good enough no HDD=nt being able to play alot of games cant download n e thing so arcade being 200 isnt gonna help....60GB 360 @ 300bucks? extra 100 u get free online blu ray n wi fi just to get wifi along will cost u 100 bucks n online is 40 so a 60GB 360 with online n wifi will cost ya 440$ n if u count blu ray thats a different story i think 400 bucks for a ps3 is a bargain i unfortunately couldnt get the bargain >.> paid 600 for mine plus like 200 bucks for circuitcity warrenty which is the dumbest thing i ever done cuz my ps3 wont break >.> so i end paying the amount whihc coulda got me 2 ps3s at this times but ah well i think it's money worth spent

IMO this guy is completely wrong. I think even with price cutt premium X360 couldn't beat PS3 last month, when Microsoft was fasing out the 20 gb versions. furthermore he misses the target with his argument regarding the exclusives!! LBP, HOME, Motorstorm 2, Naruto, WipeOut HD, Socom, Resistance2 and more bright future Heavy Rain, Killzone 2, MAG, GOW3, GT5 will surely make the consumer consider PS3.

 Sony will come out with something if they have to.  NA is not the only continent for PS3. I think they will do some price cut at some point around christmas

I don't know, the ps3 actually has a list of highly anticipated games coming out in time for the holiday season, plus the MGS4 bundle, plus Killzone 2 early next year.  In terms of a higher price, well shouldn't that be expected by now, the ps3 is always going to cost more.  i can see the ps3 just beating the 360 this holiday season.

Hmm... M$ announces price cut becaue there scared knowing they have nothing after GeOW2 for atleast a year. Sony sits nad laughs. We now have WKC along with all the bave people have mentioned. Are killer lineup over the course of the next 6 months will no doudt make consumers stop and think about long term outcomes. get a crapbox now and 6 months have no exclusivs... no High Def player. Let's just put it this way, the HOLIDAY SEASON covers two-three months.  Even if it does beat the PS3 what exactly is that going to do for the 360.  It's already starting to lose worldwide and the M$ lead is already down to less than 4.5 million even with the one year headstart.  M$ wasted their year and now are doing anything they can to try and just hold their ground.  They're not going to win, they're already losing to sony in sales and have been trounced by wii.  Sony may not take first place position for a while, but they will pull ahead of M$ is the next 2.5 years, but that figure make actually drop lower with another price cut.  M$ doesn't have enough to offer with their system.  You don't move consoles with XBOX Live, it takes games.  They don't offer a high-definition format but you can download HD movies over live, but the incredible price drop leaves you with a system that doesn't have the ability to store those movies.  A bunch of idiots are gonna bite this price drop for the arcade that can barely do anything cause you can't even save.  But it won't affect the overall 360 sales enough for them to pull ahead.  M$ has put too much emphasis on making money and not enough on bringing value to their customer.  they want all this money, but what will stockholders say in 3 years when you realize that you lost a war with a 1-year headstart.  If the 3 systems would have come out at the same time, 360 wouldn't be where it is now and it would be a horrible failure.  M$ can monopolize computers (which they can't really do anymore cause they're losing people to apple) but when it comes to consoles they've made wrong turns at every corner.

I don't find this surprising, disappointing yes, but there was a post somewhere here recently detailing somebody from Sony saying that they can't actually make enough ps3's to satisfy demand.. Sony needs to further ramp up production / farm out to other companies to rectify this problem.  More produced = less costs % and then maybe they will be able to drop the price a bit, which in turn might make them beat the 360 sales in NA.

Now I am looking forward to gears 2 as I also have a 360, and gears 1 was a good game, but gears one lasted about 6 hours from strart to finish, what else are 360 fans supposed to do? Oh yeah, fable 2 (yawn :(   ).

DID this guy smoke some crack!!! thats TWO!!!! two exclusives. i dont want to start with the sony exclusives.imagine, this guy gets paid millions of dollars to produce information such as that. but in anycase i dont think this will affect sales to much. the ps3 has blu-ray and is the cheapest and best quality blu-ray player out there(i think) i wonder if this guy took that into account whilst he was puffing away. but still has anyone buying an xbox ever thought about all the extra's you have to pay. not to mention getting a crap service,(isn't xbox live supposed to be the best?) the 300MB file limit seems to be a bit on the small side.

To be fair of all the exclusives this season, Gears of War 2 is going to be massive.

Gears of War 2 is practically their second Halo.

Additionally the orginal Fable was highly acclaimed title.

A|nd lastly the 360's exclusive Fallout 3 DLC that should be a major contributing factor to some.

But I'm more than happy with my Motorstorm 2 and Resistance thank you very much.

On  a whole Sony has more seasonal titles and together they may just have a stronger pull, but unfortunately title for title Gears of War 2 (And I'm no fan) is sadly going to trample the competition.

I don't say that the 360 will top Ps3, but it will be close.

I love my PS3, but I wish they marketed and fought for exclusives like the 360.

And what the h*ll does 'less popular' online network mean.  What does popularity have to do with it?  Sony has an amazing lineup of titles on the PSN (more diverse and unique IMO than the competition), a newly launched movie service, and it's free to play online.

Companys only give price cuts because they cannot sell their consoles, and xbox cant sell the 360 hence the price cuts, i see the PS3 and Wii are still going without huge price cuts

PRICE IS EVERYTHING AND ALWAYS HAS BEEN.  Look at many of you.  Qore is 3 bucks (TWO if you subscribe) and you still "steal" it.  People are cheap.  Have you noticed that the Wii is no where near as good as the other two but is killing them in units sold?  Sony is foolish not to drop the price.  Foolish.  Again.

The US of A is economically very weak at the moment, so of course they'll go with the cheaper option. And yeah, you got me there for a second with the "weak software lineup". I'd rather have LBP and R2 than Gays of War 2 and Fable 2.

I don't see it happening. But its possible. But so far PS3 has outsold the 360 every month this year so far and PS3 has a much stronger line up then the 360 this holiday season. But time will tell.

Is it just me or does it look like people are trying to stall the PS3 when its reaching a peak? I mean....exclusive titles don't compare? Very scandalous indeed.

Price point is always a nice thing, but isn't the be-all and end-all as already proven so many times before. The fact is, the PS3 doesn't need a price sut because its doing well to a point. The 360 on the other hand need to push a cheaper price because its stalling in comparison to the PS3 and for the fact that they can't match what the PS3 is offering by the holiday season.

And wasn't Edge magazine heavily involved in some other scandalous statements since the launch of the PS3 that have proven to be utter rubbish? Or am I thinking of one of the other numerous FUD sites out there?

I don't have a 360, but damn the other day I saw the Pro model getting sold for like $189..99 almost made me want to buy it, then I remembered I was broke..

Lets look at what PS3 has to offer. Free Online, Blu-Ray which won the HD war, Playstation Store, Playstation Eye, Powerful Console, Built for the Future, Does not break down Like the X360 My Co-Worker is on his fifth one and I still have my Original 60gb Launch PS3 and have had no problems. Resistance 2, LittleBigPlanet, Playstation Home, GOW, Socom, Killzone 2, Motorstorm 2, and Heavy Rain. 

 X360  has Gear of War 2 & Fable 2.

Which list looks better?   One thing to mention, with TV,s going digital in February people are buying new HD TVs and what can be better than watching a Blu-Ray movie on a brand new HD TV. 

Just with The dark Knight in Blu ray will be more than enough

Dont agree with the exclusive part or online network part,ps3 online if free n best things r free and we do have the best exclusives but that doesnt matter,just look at the wii,its ripping 360 n ps3, its seems price matters  n even more now so the ps3 will lose this holiday season n the console war if they dont cut prices,this chrimbo i think is vital for sony, beating the 360 in sales for a few months does not mean anything besides they should at least offer a tempory price cut just for run up to xmas.sony must be very agrassive

Anybody who says that the exclusive content will be lacking this Holiday Season for the PS3 has no idea what they're talking about.  The article didn't even mention Motorstorm 2, SOCOM, and Valkyria Chronicles.

Resistance 2 can hold it's own with Gears 2.  LBP will possibly hold it's own with Fable 2 and will certainly trounce it worldwide.  That leaves SOCOM, Motorstorm 2 and a few other PSN titles to eat away at market share and push hardware.

The "analyst" has no credibility.  Having said that, another price cut would be highly beneficial for PS3 sales, even if it's only $50.

Sorry, guys...he's right.  It's about perceived value and without a price drop, the PS 3 will seem too expensive, especially for parents looking to cut back expenses during the holiday season.  Best case scenario-for PS 3--they sell approximately the same # of units as X Box.

Does it matter if Xbox 360 sells more than PS3? Just be happy with whatever you have. Selling the most consoles doesnt make it function any better.

The only thing that I'm concerned about is the lack of games. I mean, Sony promissed 100's and 100's of top notch titles and here we are in September 2008 and we still only get a small handful at a time. They really have to fix that.

it is a silly battle, but what I hate most  I mean the most is when I see a tv show or overhear some kid talking to his parents and they talk about the xbox like its the only console around. Like Nintendo and Sony (not to mention all the others) didnt blaze a deep and wide trail so many years before.  M$ has spent so much on advertising and shoving down peoples throat its kinda sick really. I hate to say it.......and i REALLY hate to say it but besides the exclusive line up statment, everything he says I think is true. Right now besides the UPCOMING exclusives, Sony has everything XBox has to offer but xbox has a lower price. The 3rd party games are all same. PS3 is just more ready for the future.... People are CHEAP. They will go for xbox because of the fact its cheaper. Look at the Wii in terms of quality of games. WII GAMES SUCK. Yet the system is blowing away the competetion. I REPEAT, its all about the price. People go to wal-mart over any other competitor, and why? Not because the service sucks, but because the PRICE IS RIGHT.

This is going to be a intresting holiday.  What's coming on the PS3 in spades and aces to the Xbox's 360 price cut and 2 exlcusives.  Here's my answer.

Too Human flopped, Infinite Undiscovery flopped, Tales of Vesperia was a success,  Gears will be a minor improvement over the first gears and Fable 2 will most likely successed but by looking at the game, it's hardley a jump from the first one.  That's it for Microsoft, everything else will be a multiplatform battle between the two.

Now PS3 on the other hand, I know, what hasn't been said before already? Metal Gear Solid 4 was critically acclaimed, Ratchet and Clank: Quest for Booty, and Siren: Blood Curse were received well, Little Big Planet is obviously the title everyone is waiting for, then there is Resistance 2, Valkyria Chronicles, Socom Confrontation, Motorstorm: Pacific Rift, Wipeout HD and the Virtual World Home service along with Life with Playstation.  Am I missing anything besides the obvious battle for the multiplatform games?

Now the real question is, what is the next biggest thing for Microsoft in 2009?

What an utter load of BS, the closet 360 to a PS3 is the elite and it still costs $399.99.  Besides the xbox has no real exclusives since everything is released on the PC as well.  It's pretty sad when all the most acclaimed 360 titles this year have been multiplatform, bottom line for me is if the Crapbox 360 was free I would still pass.  I can play Gears or Halo on my PC if I wanted to so STFU Divnich, what are there kick back$ from M$ everytime one of you guys hypes the 360 and bashes the PS3!?

What's he talking about? 7 of my friends who have been Xbots since the beginning just bought PS3s because of 360's weak line up. It is a very dated machine they'll lower 360s so much that you can get a Wii for the same price. Frankly, i'd get a wii for that money and then get a ps3 if i was a newcomer.

Is this guy dumb? Consoles is not like gas where you find the cheapest. The PS3 is by far the best console to buy (straight out the box). The new XBox are just like the 20GB, hopefully people know that. MS only has a large software base and most of their games sucks. I cannot name ten hot games to buy. It doesn't matter to me. I'm not getting none of the profits, I know I love my Sony products and who doesn't complain about M$ products? Bill Gates complain about M$ products..!

I say this gut needs to do some more research and see who has sold the most comsoles so far this year. One season this far in will not break another console. The Xbox would have to sale less then the Wii in order to do great this season. Most of the people who have Xboxs are getting PS3s because their Xbox broke and they are tired of paying for XBL.

this guy might be right. Nevertheless the ps3 has a good number of games coming out in a couple of monts from the homiday season. So people could still buy the ps3 in view of these titles.

Maybe Sony is not cutting the price because they are selling well right now.

Another friend of mine got the red ring of death yesterday :)  As far as sales; lots of people with 360's are now looking towards the PS3 this Christmas because of MGS4 and LBP.  Even though the reviews have been great for LBP, I think most are going to be amazed at the sales of this game.  It's got such a wider audience than something like MGS4.    I think most people that want a 360, have one already.  For people who wanted a PS3, they probably wanted a better selection of games, a cheaper price, and see if Blu-Ray would win out.  Well, now they got what they wanted.  Of course with the economy being not entirely stable...they could go for the "cheaper" console ;) 

Whatever, I dont care. Im not going back to Xbox anymore.... all I know is Ive got a great system PS3.

That's a lie. Playstation home, sony Headset,Sonic Unleashed, Naruto, final Fantasy. they better get there facts straight. Ps3 Graphics are a lot better than xbox 360.

360 will win the console wars because along with the price cut a surprise release will be avalable with it. Yep. MGS4 will no longer be a PS3 exclusive. A slightly toned down version will be released on 6 dual layered DVD disks. Also for some even more bad news, MGS5 is currently being made exclusively for the 360 which will consist of  14 dual layered DVDs. MS also has plans on releasing a 360 that will hold 30 DVD disks for huge future games to combat the PS3. MS spokeperson on this special event said:  I like playing the 360 naked and so do many others in our offices.

More speculation, but one vitalpoint hs been overlooked.  Parents buy what they can afford and don'tknow the difference between consoles so maybe not sucha daft prediction after all.  I would be suprised if US region was led by PS3 because of patriotism alone.  It will be close and interesting to watch though
