PS3 boosts Blu-ray in Europe

Since the release of the PS3, sales of Blu-ray discs in Europe have sky rocketed, reports Sony Pictures Home Entertainment (SPHE to its friends).
The figures state that 180,000 SPHE films have shifted, with numbers indicating that sales have increased a whopping 1000% since the launch of the PS3 in March. SPHE are rightly giving the credit to said multimedia and gaming device.
This is easily understandable, as the PS3 is the only affordable Blu-ray player available to buy in Europe at the moment. Coupled with the lack of HD-DVD supporting equipment, Blu-ray is quickly becoming the format of choice for Europeans.
