Electronic Arts has announced development of the third iteration in the popular FIFA Street series, following a special unveiling behind closed doors at the Leipzig Games Convention in Germany last week.

According to the official press release, the game is being developed by EA Canada and will be released for “next-generation consoles” some time in 2008. Substantial gameplay details and other related information have yet to be revealed, however, and it is currently unknown if the game will appear on last generation machines and handhelds in addition to PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360.

FIFA Street focuses on building up a small group of well-known football stars and earning reputation points by performing a variety of stylistic tricks and manoeuvres. Players must then take these skills to the streets and utilize them to surpass the opposition by competing in a number of local tournaments. Familiar faces in the series to date include David Beckham, Ronaldo and Zinedine Zidane.

Stay tuned for more information on FIFA Street 3 as soon as it becomes available.

Sounds sweet. I haven't played the previous 2 versions, but I may have to pick this one up :) Too bad it comes out so much later after the release of FIFA 08 though.

if anyone buys this game, they deserve a kick in the nuts. I rented the first one for 2 days, cleared it. Rented the second one for ONE day and cleared it. Awful, awful game. It EA, how can we expect them to improve?

Why do they keep putting out these games?  Dosent EA screw the pooch enough?  Their last couple street games were barely worth mention.
