Factor 5 President tries to explain LAIR reviews

According to Factor 5, many reviewers out there became a little upset at Lair for its controls, and gave the game low scores because of it. "That is exactly the kick of creating a first-year game: exploring the not-yet-finished hardware and growing the technology while the hardware is coming together," stated Julian Eggebrecht, Lairs lead director, on MTV's GameFile.
He further stated that for an early title, Lair accomplishes what some other titles don't reach until well into the consoles second generation of games. "I think both Rogue Leader and Lair gave a good stab at poking into the depths of the systems for such early titles, and from that you have a second-generation growth opportunity that surpasses most developers that jump onto the bandwagon later."
As for the controls, Eggebrecht states "The Sixaxis motion control itself feels a lot more organic and free-form than the rigid controls of other flight games and does much better for casual players, as we saw in focus tests. It does seem to alienate some reviewers who are at the top of the hard-core crowd and seem to have a passionate hate for all things motion."
It's interesting to note that while the Wii doesn't stop these same negative reviewers from giving it an amazing review, the PS3 gets harshly slammed on the controls that some reviewers fail to grasp at all and end up blaming the game on. The idea that hardcore gamers hate motion is one issue, but whether or not they can handle this motion is another.

Game reviewrs are giving Lair its props on its storyline and graphics, but when it all comes down to it gameplay is what really matters and thats where this game failed!!! Julian can't make up for that no matter what he says.

It is perspective. People embraced the wii and therefore excuse all the crappy games that have been on the system. Here comes lair and because of people being inept they blame it on the game. Youtube is now floded with people playing the game, debunking claims that the game is hard to control, has choppy framerates all the time and has poor looking water/physics effects.

Y'know what pablo if they were optional I do not think anyone would have played with it. I know I probably wouldn't. I would have used it for a sec, thought cool and then go back to what I am familiar with. Because there was no option I was forced out of my comfort zone and ended up having a blast. The game is fun and I have a sneaky suspicion that if I had the ability to use an analog stick the game would have been "too" easy. And as far as I am concerned that would kill a game for me.
