Home Beta Updated: Square, Backgammon, Chess

A post over at the Console Exploits forums has revealed some news about Sony's upcoming PlayStation Home 3D social network.

Nekon, a moderator, said, “It seems the HOME beta has been updated and ready for download by current testers. With this update the HOME Square that was shown at E3 has finally been made available to testers. From what I understand many changes have been made to the HOME beta and they're very well received by beta participants.”

Also, Home areas now can be broken down into separate downloads for one's liking:

“For example if you didn't desire to visit the theater you didn't have to download it. It makes for a much smaller core download and allows users to define their own experiences.”

Another tidbit is the apparent support of DivX videos (shown by the logo in one of the screens below), and the addition of Backgammon and Chess in the Game Space.

Home could be the secret card Sony definitively need. Can't wait. I hope they will think to make good use of the theatre (for exemple, bring some trailers a few days before being available to download via normal PSStore and some exclusives stuff)..

Not the SH**t for the Wii-casual gamers "revolution" tho (just imagine KZ2's sell number being 50x time lower than any 6months-made Wii games, who will continue to put Millions$$ and years to develop HD hardcore games?)

i hope HOME servers are as good as the Warhawk servers. no wait, those servers were managed terribly. Sony should do something right and host home on an MS network. maybe then it would work.
