Rockstar’s Manhunt 2 has been rejected for a second time by the British Board of Film Classification (BBFC), despite the developer submitting an edited version to the company for approval following its ban in June 2007.
"We recognise that the distributor has made changes to the game, but we do not consider that these go far enough to address our concerns about the original version," commented BBFC Director, David Cooke.
"The impact of the revisions on the bleakness and callousness of tone, or the essential nature of the gameplay, is clearly insufficient.”
"There has been a reduction in the visual detail in some of the 'execution kills', but in others they retain their original visceral and casually sadistic nature”, he added.
The company added that any appeal to the decision is now squarely in the hands of the games publisher, Take Two.
The title fared better overseas, where an edited version of Manhunt 2 was approved by the ESRB, granting it a Mature (M) rating for regional distribution in North America later this month.
Stay tuned for more developments as they break.

Lets face it.. theres bias on BBFC's behalf. Its Rockstar. Its Manhunt. And unless they have fairies and elves dancing around a camp fire singing a PG-Britney Spears song, they wont have a bar of it. If it got an M in the US - it should at least get approved in the UK.

But isn't the leak unedited version of Manhunt 2 a PAL game?....just get that one and call it that. Yeah you will need to meet certain requirements to play it but hey...if you planned on buying it in the first place, now since its not being released in your region you guys would have alittle extra cash to make it happen ;)

Don't see what the big issue is. This kind of game should not be on the Nintendo console anway since it is fared as a "family" machine... No matter what it gets released as... It will have at least a "M" rating which just means you have to be of age to get it...... Sounds like a great game...never played the first though. Would like to get the original version that T2 planned to release... wonder if that is possible.

The worst part about things like this is that, The rating system is voluntary, so companies do not have to submit a game for rating before selling it. However, most game publishers in the United States use the system. The reason they use the system is because the sponsers usually will not give any companies money if they don't use the system. If a company were to put up it's own cash and release a game that didn't use the stupid rating system, I for one would buy a bunch of copies just off of principle. We need to stop letting random people put ratings on games they don't understand, never play, and try to limit our enjoyment by forcing developers to change the incredible game that they made to something more mediocre

Oh, screw this. It's BBFC that controls the whole European market, right? This way, R* might as well cancel the whole European launch. Noone's going to buy it anyway I guess.

i don't understand the problem?? can they not release the game at all?? i mean this game clearly shouldn't be played by children under the age of 18 so what is Rockstar trying to get it rated at?? i feel way too many games get by too easy as it is with these ratings....and then game stores selling them to kids who are clearly underage is worse. i am glad they aren't giving it a rating that would allow children to play this game. at least let their parents be forced to judge if it is ok for them. i wouldn't want my kids playing this and alot of parents don't have the time to keep an eye on what their kids play or purchase. at least they would have to be aware what this game is about and how callous this game is. now if we could just get america to wake up and fix the ratings and start cracking down on underage gaming. that said....i can't wait to pick this up. should be a killer game.

F-you BBFC. I'll just import it.
This game can't be any worse than the first Manhunt. I reckon someone put preasure on BBFC not to allow the game come to UK at all.
I bet David Cooke is someone who has watched far worse in his personal collection and snorts crack at the same time.
