Incognito game director Dylan Jobe has posted new details on the upcoming expansion pack for Warhawk, entitled Operation: Fallen Star, revealing the game's free Icarus Mk.1 Rocket pack and new level, Tau Crater.
According to Jobe, the Icarus Mk.1 rocket pack can be used with both of the new free game modes that they released with the v1.4 update, as well as in the new v1.5 update.
"Now the jetpack itself is big departure from the way we normally do vehicles and this was very, very intentional. With each of our Booster-Packs, we specifically look for mechanic changing ways to freshen-up the game — and Operation: Fallen Star is no exception," wrote Jobe.

As for the new level, Tau Crater, there will be 10 different layouts ranging from the full map to sectioned-off areas for close quarters battles.
"It’s a smoky, forested island that features lots of vertical elements to give players tons of cools places to use the jetpack; huge trees that you can fly up into and land on their branches, an enormous recovery crane with lots of trusses and platforms to fly around, and of course, the name sake, a truly gargantuan capital ship wreckage smashed into the ground forming, you guessed it, Tau Crater," wrote Jobe.
For more details, be sure to check out Jobe's full post on the Official PlayStation Blog. Warhawk Operation: Fallen Star will be released on August 28 for $7.99. Also, expect Sony to release a Booster Combo Pack soon which will include all three Warhawk expansions for $15.99.

I never liked jet packs in games,it gives the player an unfair advantage in games, hopefully this'll be an exception though.

Fly with flag shouldn't be to bad with the jet pack as you won't travel too fast and you can lock on to them with the rocket launcher(only weapon able to lock on), which I assume will mean one hit one kill

yeah this is good but it really hacks me off that those of us who adopt these updates early get shafted because a few months down the line they decide to bundle all the DLC and make it cheaper, maybe i should just wait in the future! In other words the people who like the game a lot and play it a lot have to pay more.

I LOVE WARHAWK - Dylan Jobe is a god amongst men because he listens and where technically possible makes sure his team delivers. If only others at Sony could take this approach. Release on time great value, amazing gameplay and a real feeling that the devs play this as much as we do. Just hope they'd get rid of the menu sound effects they're too loud.
@12 - I think you're wrong there. Choice is good. If you're hacked off with the price then wait for the combo pack. If like me you can't wait to see how dangerous using Icarus MK1 is when surrounded by warhawks then you'll pay the money. After all it's barely the price of a bigmac and fries nowadays. They aren't forcing you to buy anything, and they are giving us a lot of stuff for free. Do Ubisoft or EA give out lovely treats like these with such great regularity ... NO!
