Impressive Killzone 2 destructibility footage

Outside of its immaculate texture work, character models, and animations, Killzone 2 features an incredibly realistic destructibility engine allowing users to decimate specific objects and structures, watching them crumble into ruins.

In this latest line of footage, the player shows off some of the destructibility seen in the online multiplayer beta, shooting everything from pipes to hurling a grenade and razing the side of a support pillar. Watch as chunks of concrete collapse to the ground and red-hot bullet holes penetrate the ground floor, spitting up debris.

Killzone 2 is set for release exclusively on PlayStation 3 in February 2009.

You know what would have been good?

The ability to destroy the lights to add to a tactical advantage. Of course, this would mean the characters would hav eto have nightvision of some discription, or Heghast have night vision & humans see the Helghast eyes..lolol.

But i suppose unless night vision of some sort was incorporated it would make the game infuriating. I just hate to see indestructable glass objects in a game..:p

@GunTeng: that's brilliant.  Although I think it's too late to implement this,  that's a great idea for future FPSs.  Hopefully if that ever IS implemented, it isn't overused by players, otherwise we'd be playing a game in night vision.  I swear, that night vision section in COD4 really pissed me off.

If I sound hypocritical right now... think of it more like ambivalence.  DX

@2: You mite be onto something there.

@3: Really? You didn't like the night vision part of COD4?  I reckon that was the best part of the game.

great game, i'm addicted to the beta.. the only complain is that your enemys can handle too much hits and its annoying sometimes ... but if not a 10 game maybe a 9.6 or more game

The Beta is awesome(It is at least just as good as Resistance 2's online)

Though with Resistance you have to take out so many enemys at once, and in killzone 2 enemies come at you alone or in pairs usually but they all feel deadly.

My time is being monopolized by Killzone and Resistance(My friend was also very impressed by both)

The destructability is the best I've ever seen. I really hope the game is long enough and the gameplay is better than the first, though.

The controls look very very polished...the lowest over-all score I see KZ2 getting would be 8.9 and the highest being 9.5. Either way after 3 years in development, it's a sure fire hit that I can't wait to get my paws on!!!! lol
