Continuing with our exclusive 2 Days to Vegas coverage, PSU has managed to nab two all-new gameplay videos on the upcoming action-shooter for your viewing pleasure. What you are about to see is still a work in progress, though it still provides an early insight into the shooting mechanics and various car chase sequences throughout the game.
According to Steel Monkeys' Tim Dvoskin, elements such as physics and animations will be polished further as development continues.
"Textures we will deal with as well, but to the lesser extent, as we feature 3 major cities and highways, and there is a limit to the amount of art resource we can throw at it - cannot compare with corridor-like games," said Dvoskin.
The first video features the main character Vinny at one of the game's strip clubs engaged in a heated gun battle, giving us a look at the game's cover system. Meanwhile, the second video provides an early look at one of the games car chase scenes where Vinny has to evade the mobsters chasing him.
Check out the videos below and stay tuned for all new details from Steel Monkey later today.

Man, this looks choppy. Not smooth at all! Why would they show this?

Reminder: This is a early look at the game. It still has another year to go. Also this isn't a done up trailer or post-processed footage. The guys at Steel Monkeys recorded this straight from a running PC demo for PSU. So this is like prealpha...

It's 2 Days to Vegas, NOT Eight Days.
I really hope as they get closer to Beta, that the frame rates and animation do smooth out, as it stands now it's really hard to seperate it from a dozen other 3rd person shooters. Uncharted stands out because of the fluidity and crispness it exudes. Even the tech demo video of Eight days showed a slickness to movement and animation, this is kinda feels stiff and feels very "been there done that". Can you stoop down while in cover mode to shot low? can you leap to cover? does the character Vinny flinch at a close call? Even GTA which this will inevitably be compared to over and over again got some of these things right. These are things I hope the developers are trying to address in the effort to make the game stand out and be recognized by the time it's all said and done because it seems like they are trying but it'd suck for the effort they've put in to this point to get washed a way in a sea of apathy.

THIS IS EXCLUSIVE FOOTAGE. nothing in it is anything near final. this is basically a story board so you can get an idea of where they are going with this. why show it? becuz they want positive feed back. for example: its looking good but i think the reload time should be faster and i think that the cars shouldnt blow up so quickly. make them a bit tougher.

This is not made by Midway. This is being made by Steel Monkey. You are thinking about "This is Vegas".This looks horrible. This game at first looked cool and sounded cool, but from those vids, it looks horrible. Hopefully they make it a lot better in the next year or whatever. Haven't they been working on this for 2 years now. Come on, this is not 2 years worth of work. -

Guys, guys, it's still in early development. It is of no clear indication of how the game will turn out. I'm not trying to give it an excuse, but rather, I'm trying to remind people that it might not even look like that in the final product. Compare GTA III's beta shots to the final GTA III game and you will see what I mean.
