Neversoft says goodbye to Tony Hawk

Neversoft and Tony Hawk go together like peanut butter and jelly or the DualShock controller and a PlayStation console; however unlike the latter two, Tony Hawk and Neversoft have decided to part ways in a move that is described as “probably best for the franchise.”

The popular series has seen a total of nine iterations released over the course of the last decade, and in recent years has seen increasing competition and market share loss at the introduction of Electronic Arts’ Skate.

According to Joel Jewett, co-Founder of Neversoft, the company feels as though this change is for the best. With the abandonment of the Hawk franchise completed, Neversoft plans to shift its focus entirely to its Guitar Hero brand for the foreseeable future.

While Tony Hawk isn't dead, it is believed that the series will see a new beginning with an unnamed developer taking over the licensing.

Stay tuned for more details as they become available.
