Yakuza 3 shipments top 500,000

SEGA has confirmed that its PlayStation 3 exclusive adventure sequel Yakuza 3 has shipped a mammoth 500,000 units in Japan since its release last month.
If that wasn’t enough to float your boat, the latest sales data from the region also shows that the game is on its way to surpassing the same milestone in terms of overall units sold – mighty impressive, we’d say.
Unfortunately, the chances of the game receiving a western release are looking rather slim at present, with SEGA having previously commented it has no plans to launch the game outside of Japan. This decision is largely attributed to the fact past Yakuza games have failed to spark much interest in North America and Europe.
Still, we’re keeping our fingers crossed this changes in the future.

I played the first one and its one of the few games I'd describe as "fun". I really hope 3 comes out in Europe. Sega were willing to put the effort in to release Valkryia Chronicles over here so I'd like to think they'd do the same with Yakuza

I played through Yakuza 2 and I loved that they just used subs instead of dubbing it, the game felt more authentic and it was totally a great game with a great story i just hope SEGA do bring it over and just Sub it. Maybe we should start a petition so that we can show SEGA that alot of people in the west want this game!

@ Staticneuron, Sega cannot do that with Yakuza 3 because SCEA requires games to have English dubs. If it's their previous console (like last gen when Sony moved onto PS2 and how this gen they've moved onto PS3, they'll allow developers/publishers to get away with it on their previous console (talking about PS1 and PS2 here)). SCEA has not changed this policy and will deny games which are English subtitles with Japanese voices (since NA is English speaking and feel English voice acting should be there).

We need to sign the petition for this game so we can bring it to Sega. Let them know how we feel about this game. See if we can get them to see there is some profit to be had from the Uk and the US. Just do the subtitles treatment and we will be happy!! Thats all we need. I don't think it is that expensive to add subtitles. Thanx for your time Plz sign the Petition just goole Yakuza 3 Petition and there you go

@ acd576, subtitles is not expensive, but SCEA does not allow subtitles with Japanese voices UNLESS English voiceacting is required. That is why some games either removed all Japanese voices or included terrible English voice acting just to get around SCEA's rules.

What the heck sega? Bring it over here. It's not our fault that your sales suffer due to you guys not advertising correctly. Word of mouth will only go so far Sega. Look at me talking as if a rep is actually reading. Oh well.

Seriously, I would prefer if they just subtitled the game and translated the menus instead of dubbing. I sould definitely buy this game if it was released in North America. Please Sega, this game looks so awesome! The official game site shows that this game packs a ton of content.
