Don Control creates unique gameplay for Godfather II

Electronic Arts is often referred to as a company that enjoys recycling ideas without trying to push new elements or test the market with niche implementations. Fortunately for gamers, this has changed over the last couple of years, as the company has produced such titles as Dead Space and Mirror's Edge. Continuing on this trend of fresh, new styles of play, EA has implemented a cool mode within Godfather II entitled Don Control.

Don Control allows gamers to take control of an overview look of the "battlefield" in order to place important markers, spy on enemy strategies and do the all around things you'd expect to be able to control through an RTS title. GameTrailers has revealed this mode in detail via a recent trailer.

We recommend checking it out, as it looks like it is a solid addition to the upcoming Godfather game. We've included the trailer below.

Not bad, but I have to agree with #1, it does look kinda cheesy. I give to EA for coming up with the idea but it seems you control way too much and don't leave much room for the element of thrill or suprise in the game. Think about, how good can u get in the game if you start off with a clan and in your clan always use the Don control. How will you ever learn to navigate in the game with the Don always basically telling what/ what not to do? There better be more of a limitation to this thing cause it looks way too cheesy.

EA really has come a long way lately.  Whether or not this game pans out, I'd like to give EA some props for putting some fresh stuff out there.  Now, if they can just fix the Def Jam series back to its former glory, all will be well in the world.

This is one of those under-appreciated games, in my opinion. I just hope EA have polished the graphics a little, I would even recommend delaying it for a month just to polish it - I want to enjoy this game, but graphics can bother me, even if the gameplay is great (Mercenaries 2 rings a bell)

yeah mercs 2 was very dissapointing. I'm not sure about this game yet but credit to EA, Mirrors Edge was unique and Dead Space is one of my all time favorite games.

I like the first one so I might check this one out, but I have to beat Resident Evil 5 and keep my franchise mode going in MLB 09 The Show first.

Looks neat.  I'll be renting it, for sure.  I found the first one to be quite enjoyable albeit a tad vague.
